hey guys, ok so i have a new axle on order cuz i bent my stocker. it is coming in tomorrow and i have been trying to get the thing off tonight. i have done this before so i know what i am doing. i just need a suggestion because i am stuck. after removing the axle nut and sliding the threads off the splines the brake hub is supposed to just slide off. the thing is, where the axle bent, it is putting pressure on the splines there, and the brake hub is kinda seized onto the axle. i have tried everything i can think of the pry the thing off, but i cant. i am reluctant to use heat because it is so near to the swingarm and bearings. any suggestions for getting the damn thing off? i am at the end of my rope here. thanks, kurt.

If the axle is junk cut it off as close to the bend as possible then grab a big hammer.

if i did that, it would mean i have less than an 1/8 inch gap to cut between the brake hub and swingarm...i had thought about that, but i really wanted to use it as a last resort.

Cut it with a saw zaw

So is it bent inside of the brake hub? I don't see how that is really possible (but who knows) If it isnt, sawzaw just ouside of that hub and then some tapping on the axle (pounding inward) should push the hub off unscathed.

If it is on the inside, id say your threads are beat up and need a new hub so go to town with a cutter and atleast have some fun while you are at it.

i got it off. i took a 5 lb lump hammer to the end of the axle and pounded it through which popped the brake hub off. i wish i had thought of that before...lol.

thanks for the suggestions guys.

If you got your stock axle straightened and you would happen to bend or break the LSR axle there would be no down time while the LSR is being fixed or replaced. Just a thought.
