View Full Version : Why does everyone always call it the tranny side?

I was just wondering why every one calls the CLUTCH SIDE the tranny side? Everyone always talks about how the engine oil and transmission oil are seperate but in reality the transmission is one the same side as the motor and is oiled by the engine oil. The other side is just the clutch side. Just wondering

Your wrong, the trans oil and clutch oil are the same.

Because I put my trans fluid in on the trans side and I put my engine oil in on the engine side. If you want to be 100% correct the trans is behind the engine.

i run honda hp4 on both sides in mine. that bad?

thats fine, alot of people run that

I run the HP4 on the engine side and the honda red bottle(fogot name, haha) with NO moly, on the tranny side, NEVER, EVER get the red bottle stuff with moly

Well I just rebuilt the motor on my 06 and it appears that the clutch side oil cant get over to the engine/tranny side

yeah i run the hp4 w/ out moly silver bottle red cap & hp trans oil in the tranny.

I run the repsol motor oil in the engine side and the honda tranny oil in the other side.... has always worked nicely for me

Tranny runs off Clutch oil .... it can go through open Bearings and a few passages and all ... the ENGINE, Crank, Piston, Cam, is all seperate and is always running on fresh filtered oil ....

i baught my bike used and i wasnt sure what he used in it so i used hp4. i drained it completely and changed the oil is that bad if he didnt use that? or is it ok as long as i only use it from now on?

You can run a different brand oil every time you change it if you want. Doesn't make a difference.
Old wives tale that ur not supposed to switch oils.
