Has anyone ever made their own ATV Stand. I am looking to build a stand and need some ideas. I thinking the stand itself will be around 30 inches tall. I have seen them for sale but I hate to spend 100 bucks when I know I can build one for probably around 30. How did you make it and what did you use. I want to use steel because it will be light but at the same time I am thinking of 4x4 posts because they are cheap. Let me know what you guys think. Give me some ideas.

i made a stand in a fabrication class i was in last year. the upper is aluminum, and the lower is steel. it took all of an hour and a half. its adjusted by sticking a jack under it and putting pins in the slots i drilled. it also spins :)

here it is when i was just using it to spin the quad around since the wheels weren't fastened. its at the lowest position right now. at the highest, the top of the stand is about 2.5 feet off the ground.

pipless416, how sturdy is your stand when the quad is 2.5 ft up in the air. What size steel did you use, if you remember. I was actually thinking of making an X-stand that was about 30-36 inches tall. I am probably going to use 1.5 or 2 inch 1/8 or 1/4 angle bar. Then bolting it together in the middle so that it would also store flat and could hang out of the way in my garage. I do like your idea though it is very simple and I could probably make it with stuff I have around the house. Thanks for the pics.

i wouldn't go rocking it back and forth while its that high haha. the top plate is .375" aluminum with two pieces of .5x.75" bar stock used as support. that is then welded to a 1.5"OD tube.. i forgot the inside diameter.. that tube then slides over the steel base tube which is just a hair smaller than the inside diameter of the aluminum, and thats welded to a... i believe .25 steel plate.

I dont want a jack, I want something that is going to get the quad at least 30 inches off the ground. I hate crawling around on the floor and bending over to wrench.

i know, i used an old bumper jack some axel shafts about of a dump truck for the the arms to pick the quad up and some pallet jack forks for some extra support

harbor freight has decent prices on ATV jacks...i believe my top height on mine is around 24 inches...plenty of room to wrench and work underneath for about 65 bucks

we use just about anything we can find around the house. we have found that a 5 gallon can of klotz race fuel works pretty well.

I took a milk crate and cut 2 2x4's the width of the bottom and then bolted the 2x4's on with carrige bolts. It works great for me. It does not totally get all 4 wheels (mx wheels) off the ground at the same time but it takes all of the weight off of the suspension and if I need to get the front off the goud it does that as well as the rear. The milk crate also doubles to hold tools/lubiricants, etc.
