i think i'm going to sell my ct 265 pv and sparks mx pipe and go with a big bore jug....
i was looking at the esr 310 pv with the new trx7 porting and 7 pipe with their reed cage. any opinions? or go with a duncan setup? i'd like to keep it all one company, pipe-reeds-porting.

whatcha think? anyone run any of these setups?

i was also looking maybe a a cp industries jug, but i get the feeling they are more of a drag company. i want this for mx.

I have an LRD 350PV and an LRD pipe. It rips, I love it.

Depends on the price difference, and if you are going new or used, but you should probably go with the duncan, although their displacement is different. 305 and 340. I think both are on ebay. Duncan's setups are some of the best. I haven't personally dealt with esr but all I've ever read is that their porting is either hit or miss - most get it reported.

Seems alot of people dont think the ESR's powervalve is that good. I have the Duncan and haven't had any problems with it.

not disagreeing with anyone, but it just seems that esr is still working on new techniques for the R...new pipe and silencer designs, new porting....

what seems to be the problem with the esr powervalves? common problems?

the duncan kits all seem to need case machining...something i was trying to avoid.

800,
Don't go with the bolt on kits, you won't be able to overbore the cylinder, sleeve replacement is more expensive than case mods anyway. the bolt-on kits have a smaller outer sleeve diameter so there is no case modding needed. I have an lrd 350pv and love it. smooooth power and lots of it everywhere. :D :D . roost on!!

I have a new recently broken in my ESR 310pv with the Trx7 porting and Trx5 pipe and it freakin rocks. I have this on my desert quad and the powerband is so smooth that I could ride for days on end without feeling worn out. It almost feels like riding a 4 poke. Really. And I primarily set this up hopefully for long term reliability as I go on long "middle of nowhere/hills have eyes" 80 mile desert rides in a day.

I do ALSO have a mx ported CT 350 on my dune quad that is also very easy to ride BUT will hands down eat my 310 for lunch based on my butt dyno. Also even when using the same centermount pipe, it sounds like a different beast althogether. This motor has surprisingly been reliable as it was last rebuilt in the summer of 2006 although I'm getting a tad worried about the condition of the counterbalancer bearing at this point.

If the wifey lets me, I am hoping to do an LRD 350pv for my next project as I keep hearing good reviews about it :blah:

You'll love the LRD 350pv. I love mine:eek2: The only problem is when you get back on 265's, 310's, etc. they seem kind of "boring". LOL

For an ungodly amount. Who's been saying they know somebody that will rebuild them for less than half of Mark? Where are you!?

im gonna have to agree with you o nteh esr...

i really dont like the PV on them... i liked the stock 89 250r motor that my buddy had more than teh fully built arens ESR 265r PV with a ESR trx 5 or trx6 exhaust....
i really lined my pro x 265 jug with a FTZ P&P in it... that really ripped... im happy i still have but i dont have the bottom end to get it in the chassie to run it or the carb or exhaust...lol
