what you guys think of it now. i dont no what mods i should do next got any ideas? as of now i got a big bore 440 kit 12.5:1 arm rev box hmf pipe hot cams stage 2 a dvx400 fan and a hd timing chain im pretty sure thats it.

Looks much better, i'd invest in a good set of tires or start with adding suspension, looks like you got the motor pretty much covered.

ha! you notived my grab bar or what? 5th gear hitting that on pavement is pretty scary.. and i do need suspension its a must mine i tihnk blew apart inside i can pretty much bottom them out by jumping on the bumper and they stoped squiking. and tires i got a set of holeshots but i think im going to go to my freinds soon and smoke them til they blow its always fun. i just neeed to buy a set of fronts.

i depends on what all riding your going to do. i would get yourself a grab bar, bumper, and even skids. i agree on the tires too.

i usually race on track i havent trail rided all year and go on the roads like once a week and thats like only 1km down the road so i would say manily jumping and track. thats all i do pretty much. but hey about the grab bar!? how do you do that its all one peice i seen somepeople did that to there exs but i never really looked into what you have to do. how long you think that one will last? ha

If your just a trail rider or hit up a mx track every now and then the entry level PEP shocks you cant go wrong with. People retro fit a 250r grab bar on the ex frame or if you buy a aftermarket frame you have a choice of having it come with grab bar mounts.

honda#4 here is a video i recently took to show my suspension problem thats 130 pounds jumping on it so on al the small jumps i pretty much bottom out every big jump i do

bruh i weigh the same as you and when i do that to my quad it does the exact same thing. except the sqeaking. my advice, if you havent already adjusted the shocks to the hardest setting, do it now. and if that aint enuf then buy some used shocks or 450r shocks.

ya man there stiffened right up and i tihnk they sqeak because there messed one time i landed really hard and i herd somthing that sounded really bad from the front end i didnt no what it was thoguh but now i tihnk it was my shock... there isnt enough for me i actully think there just worn out so im probly going ot buy a new set.

ohhhhhhhh no watever i get next for shocks wil be it. until i get a new quad. then it will become my bagging quad even though i bag it alot already ha. im really trying to cnvince dad to get me a new 450 but there expensive new and if i would get oen i want to keep this one so it would be like dishign out 8 grand but he isnt to pleased with that idea. i just made 6500 though so im going to start looking used and maybe if i cant find somthing decent i will have enoguh for new by then. i can pick up a new 07 yfz for 7000. but i dont no i actully fell in love with my 440 i get so mad at it sometimes but then when i think or go look at a new quad i just think i cant possibly get rid of the 400ex lol

After I got my Axis shocks I was so relieved at what I could all dish out with my quad, you wouldnt believe how much stock shocks hold you back man and I'm not speaking about my front end just at what the shocks can do is so overwelming I was blowen away when I went for my first ride on my new shocks, it felt like rideing on clouds.

Even with rebuilt 450 shocks you'll feel alot happier.

If you want Roll arms find a deal like I got and it wont hurt your piggy bank to much. If you could ride my quad you would know the difference right a way, when you go to sit on the quad the shocks compress about 3 inches and theres still plenty more travel. The faster I go the better my shocks will work. I really need a rear shock and a link which would make my quad handle 10x more I only have the tip of the iceberg with the front end and all.

Yep Custom Axis, Compression,Rebound and Ride height adjust or everything except the hi/lo feature. I give you guts for wanting to buy new thats great but if you find a good deal and have them rebuilt and revalved they'll be internaly brand new but without the hefty price tag of brand new shocks. If I set my compression harder with a faster rebound my shocks will be super at jumping, they have MX valving so they should take everything good.

I agree with Honda#4. I run long travel with Axis front and rear. They are awesome but your looking at 3,000 for the front end and 900 for a rear shock new. Keep an eye out for used, send them to AXIS for a re-valve ( I think its 85$) and they will be like new.

I paid just under half of new for my set up with fresh fluid, valved and sprung for my weight and rididng style.

Even if you find some shocks that may not be fully adjustable they can be modded by axis to whatever you want.

Definately get the rear shock. I thought my revaved stocker was ok until I finished my set up. All I can say is wow!!! what a difference.

Mine are +3 Long Travel, my setup brand new is 3k on the head, my shocks are around 1500 brand new and the arms alone are 1400 brand new plus mine use to be chrome and thats another 100.

I warn you right now that great quality comes with a price.

Can't agree more. I guess my gibson front end is about 3K with shocks and brake lines and chrome uppers. But isn't it pretty:D

Yea I see the Gibson rebuild kit at K&K is like $400 :eek2: . The local bearing shop had all the same stuff for under $175. Not to mention you can get anodized bearings from them.

I like the Roll Design too. They are almost the same as Gibson's far as the lowers

It is a ton of money to drop, especially on a bike that is pretty outdated far as technology. You end up 12K + into a bike worth 3,500 at best. Don't rush into things, try to find people who have setups you like and see if you can ride their bike. For the price of all new suspension you can buy a built 400 already set up. I bet I couldn't even get 4K, not these days.

Well its really hard to say cuz im not in your boots but personally I always try to find the best parts possible then again people call me crazy for buying such expensive parts for only aggressive riding which I only do minor jumping as well.

I think first off its always good to shop around for things that may catch your eye and pricing, one place could have what you want 500 dollars more than place B so its wise to do your homework on that, Next set a budget on how much your willing to spend cuz when your talkin suspension expect to pay big for good stuff. If anything have a backup plan in case something you like doesnt fit your wallet or quad flow.

Hopefully this all makes sense to you, just take your time finding things cuz when I first modded my machine theres was a few things that I screwed myself on buying and wish I bought something else with the money I wasted. But thats all about having a quad.

Depending on you cash flow you may even consider a 400 Hybrid, there is some nice ones out there for sale. You get 400ex feel with 450r power.

i have no rent to pay or bills or no food to buy i live with my dad im only 15. i did all my dads hay work at home in the feilds because he was to busy and one rented corder he told me i can use his equipment for free and he will haul it for me for free to the alfalfa plant all i got to do is pay rent on it. girl came out and looked at it once it was all done and she said 85 bucks a tone. i had 200 bales. payed back my dad what i owed him payed rent put the rest away and ot bout 6500 to spend. and a bale ways 1500.

They do make large square bales that are in the neighborhood of 1000lbs+ that is the ones you see on the tractor trailers going threw. We have alot of them down here.

You a farmer? Our round bales of hay weigh over 1200lbs, two weeks ago I moved around 400 straw bales do a dairy close by and to some of our sheds around the area, man I never seen so many bales in a field in my life.
