He just asked what he could remove to save weight. He didn't say he still wanted it to run :D

I'd say go for a run, it's cheaper for you to lose a couple pounds then to start paying for all the aftermarket stuff.

Very Very true statement!!!

Also, you can drill holes in brackets and mounts, I see this alot on Pro quads. Swiss Cheese it:eek:

get a custom aluminum frame, i know of some people that did that to drag racing bikes.

the best things to remove are things not neccesary. I removed my snorkel to my airbox because it made removing the airbox more difficult and running open airbox lid made it useless. My aibox lid weigh a half pound. I removed my tail light. it would either break or the bulbs would break and i hardly ever ride at night so i got rid of that. Get some HiPers, shave the fenders and find anything that isnt improtant or neccesary to run and take it off

Agreed, at least that's how they feel to me when I pick them both up.

yeah i was thinking how can the non beadlock be heavier than aluminum. 4 lbs more is a lot. thats 4lbs heavier than a stock aluminum non beadlock wheel right? and that 4 lbs has to be dual bealock

Get lighter tires, some tires weigh a lot, you will gain more from this also because rotating things is even more of a big deal when it comes to weight.

I agree with the other people. My quad weighs 400lbs and it fly's nice. My dad and I always call it the flying brick because it is orange.

Depends on the rim we're comparing.

Hipers weigh less than aluminum beadlocks. But more than a non-reinforced aluminum rim.

They weigh about the same as a standard reinfocrced rim. An ITP Baja as an example.

But I agree the Hiper is not a good way to save weight. ;)

Easiest way to save a few ounces (other than a diet) is to yank the wiring harness and rewire w/ the bare minimum.

Or if he's talking about the 300ex... replace the 5 lb steel gas tank with a lighter plastic one.

Ti hardware. This is what I'm doing with my KTM at the moment. You get about a 60% weight savings over standard steel bolts

Excellent point. All those misc bolts can add up.
