Any changes coming in 09 for the 450R???

nobody knows yet. honda muct be changing all their models because the only 2009 they have released is the big red and te smaller xr dirtbikes. they normally release the models that were unchanged earlier and then the redesigned or w/e later and i think its later lol

I have talked to several dealers about it and they believe the reason Honda has waited is to allow them to get rid of the 08's they currently have. Makes sense.

As for changes, who knows. Hopefully we know this week or next week. I don't expect much on the TRX. Hopefully I'm wrong.

honda always releases info on bikes with little changes in july.. and bikes with major changes in september usually at a honda convention...

but this year they didn't release any in july.. and no convention instead they will release by something like a internet mailing to the dealers.. all trying to cut costs and cause of the gas prices..

this is what I was told. I think the date was like the 7th of sept.

yeap turbocharged and efi lol if they ever made a production quad with a turbo that would just be insane. If anything I say EFI and maybe new plastics. i hope they surpirse me unlike last time. I was so anxious to hear about the new 400ex and then it was just new plastics and minor changes.

Turbo would be sick! If the 400ex gets EFI this year and/or get better changes, i might also buy a 400ex as a trail quad.

Honestly, I would rather have carb. I'm yet to be impressed by a can-am, kawasaki, or suzuki. The best thing about efi is ease of starting. I'll stick to jets where I can at least tune my quad without a computer. As for changes in the 09, I'm looking foward to new graphics. On a serious note, I'd like to see more kickstarts produced, and maybe some more tweaks to the front ends.

I would like to see the R wider with kick start. and the ER the same width and reverse with electric.

Why do you say this? Whats so great about EFI over a finely tuned carb? Look at KTM, they went with a carb and they have towered over the competition with technology yet to be seen on a stock machine by any other manufacturer.

Honda will be introducing the new models via the internet to there dealers, and after talking to a local dealer who is the largest honda dealer in the state, I'm not going to hold my breath for them to do something drastic enough for me to wait for one. Though I'm hoping they do, I'm losing faith in Yamaha and Honda seeing as they are falling behind.

I hope they stay carbs. EFI is for trail bikes. Carbs are for racing. They tried carbs in sleds for racing and have went back to carbs. Just I have heard of people changing suzuki's over to carbs. What about race cars you won't see efi in a nascar. Thats just a couple examples.

really i think two models (race & trail) would be cool, but i just gotta ask the keep the carbs crowd, in all respects, how is honda going efi in 09 (if they did) any different then them goin to fcr carbs for 06?

Efi vs FCR isn't the same? LOL.. what are you exactly asking?

I think the FCR change was a good idea, but EFI doesn't turn me on at all. Everyone thinks that EFI is maintenance free, but its surely not and it doesn't always conform well with aftermarket add ons or performance enhancements.

I'm going thru this on my Ducati right now, and adding aftermarket exhaust is costing me an extra $1450 because I have to replace the ECU to get the right operation with the new exhaust. Just because you have EFI, that don't mean you can do anything to it and it will just adjust itself. Trust me! :)

okay, the carb people have the "if its not broke dont fix it attitude", well there wasnt anything really wrong with the 04-05 r's but honda switched to fcr carbs and everybody adjusted rather quickly, so i dont really see how an efi addition would be different...... itll be junk at first until some honda guys win a race or two then itll be the greatest thing ever and honda will be back on top of sales.... so there all these changes may not be so different after all....

90% of all cars and trucks on the road are efi, nascars are carbs because that is what the rules say they have to be, most crotch rockets are efi and most harleys are carb do you see harleys winning any races.. nobody is saying efi is a miracle fix.. but everything in this world will be efi in a few years, because they put out less emisions and get better mpg.

I would also really like a lighter bike as well.

ANYWAY .... I look at EFI like this ... If Honda Does it, then i will deal with it ... :D ... I still want the 04/05 carbs back too, so the lose of the FCR wont hurt my feelings ... ;)

well jus got our 09 model sheet at work today and the 450r DID not get any updates other then the le color change which is white plastic with a metalic orange frame

Actually with the 2008 model year, I believe all harley's became fuel injected.

On our sheet it lists a 40mm carb and a 36mm fuel injection for the 09 450r. Its confusing because it lists both and this information arrived today.
