just some things i have added lately tell me what you think

paint can lid worked great to eliminate the snorkel

nice! how much does a vapor run you? and that paint can looks metal. you got the same pipe as me how do you like it i nver got a chance to try out mine yet. all aroudn though nice quad.

Vapors are pretty sweet. I think they are around $130. I have one on my 250ex.

Is that water or is that a hole? If that's a hole Id get it fixed asap.idk just looks like a hole hard to tell though.

Paid $108 for mine from motosport, and that included free 3-day express shipping.

But holy crap, 101 degrees:eek2: You must be sweating your arse off!

How did you mount your vapor like that? Been trying to figure out a place to re-install it ever since I got my new bars.

Actually I really think that air thing is off. Mine said like 50° when the weather said 20°.

i think the vaypor was 120 bucks got it from rocky mountain the skid plate was 40$ used and its a tusk all of it is not on yet there is another 12" section that goes in front of it covering in between the a arms o yeah that temperature gauge sucks it is never right it always reads hot i got to right trail tech about that

i Emailed trail tech and asked them a few questions and i figured i share my emails with all me personally i would not buy a trail tech again but it is nice to know your distance for judging how far you can go on a tank of gas

my ambient temp is always reading higher then what the actual temp is also my engine temp is way off to. This computer is on the 400ex and I have gotten it to read over 500 which is very hard for me to believe. also is there possibly a connector so i can read oil temp because engine temp is practically useless. all in all I am disappointed with this product after paying $113 and i expected higher quality.

The ambient air temp will always read a little higher that what it really is because of the internal heat created by the computer. It sounds to me like you may be having some problems that would be covered under warranty. If you send me you shipping information I would be happy to start some warranty paper work for you.

yea i guess i should test it with the gps but who knows how accurate the gps is mambe ill just drive next to a car but if it is off then it could be because its set for the rong tire size but i have stock tires on so i should be right.

figured id put my build on here first i will start off with my 450r shocks just got them on a about a month ago but still really havent gotten to test them and know i am starting to do motor so it should be a whole new quad soon.

here is what i got except they sent me the wrong piston and i am waiting on the new one to come.

just took out my motor today took about 2 hours the swingarm bolt came right out no heat or penetrating lube.

im hopeing to have all my parts before Christmas but i dont know if i will be able to get it bored in time.

here is what it will have when im done
416 kit 11 to 1 wiesco
stg 2 cam
450r carb
450 timeing chain
going to grind out the header welds
EBC Clutch Kit

nice build it looks familiar...

i have the 450 shocks and carb, moose bumper and shock covers for christmas and some give cards to the local dealer to get my engine components. everything but the clutch kit. same pipe and i plan on grinding my header welds. i even have a spray can lid where my snorkel was, but mine is black :)

do you plan on putting your carb on the fresh motor?

im going to break it in with the stock carb then tackle the 450 carb and getting it jetted.

haha thats funny and i have yet to determine if i am going to put the 450r carb on right away i am thinking about doing it cuz then i wont have to mess with jetting twice just once but that is the part one part of the build im not looking forward to but i am excited to get see how it does with all the new stuff. good luck on your build to.

ya i hear ya, im doin all of mine at once and maybe it will be feel like a new quad. ya i dont want to do the jetting twice either but i dont how good it would be for the fresh motor if the carb was way off to start. but i think i will be able to get the jetting close enough right off the bat hopefully with the help of others on here in MI that have the 450 carb.

yea that other forum is pretty cool there is a lot less people on there and there are some sweet projects.
I go up to the dunes 2-3 times a year how about you.

i go as much as possible, i think last year i went 6 or 7 times and i got my quad mid summer so this year should be more. its only about an hour and a half or two hours from me so its not bad for a day. then ill go for a weekend at least once.

ill have to check that forum out.

Do you have an aftermarket airbox lid or do you simply have it removed? I was wondering if there's any performance drop from plugging the snorkel hole? I know alot of quads work from air velocity going into the airbox but without a snorkel the only air you get is what the filter can suck through the lid.

i have my lid removed with a prefilter. i dont go through a lot of deep water so im alright.

unfortunatly no because i am still waiting on my piston since they sent me the wrong one or else i would pretty much be done i got the rest of my parts except the timeing chain tensioner and the piston so once i get that piston i can get it bored out.

finally got the right piston in and i should have it all apart by the end of this weekend and hopefully the cylindar will get sent to get bored and honed Monday know i just need to figure out what jets i will need i am using the 400ex carb because my truck broke and i ran out of money to buy the 450r carb maybe next year.

any progress on yours 3or4HONDA

there is a factory snorkel that usually goes in place of there and comes up right under the gas tank since i never go through water i removed it and plugged it with the paint can top. there is no real gains to it but it makes it look cleaner when you take the seat off.

Looks good so far. Just alittle tip, I used a notched out piece of wood to hold up the piston instead of a rag.

Check the feedback on Rocky Mountain ATV, the general consensus was that they were poorly designed and that they had a lot of issues.

Caveat Emptor.

good idea honda#4 never thought of that.

just sent out my piston to get bored and honed they said it was going to cost $75 sounded high to me but it was the only place i found that was close to my house.

yeah, that's what i paid too at shawmut hills. they did a nice job tho, cross hatching looked good.

not bad i got to pick up a couple of parts from the dealer and im going to make sure the whole head is in spec and measure everything.

got my header welds ground down kinda hard to tell. and i gotta clean my head/valves hopefully a scotch bright and some simple green will do the trick.

yes i checked them but they were already a bigger gap then needed so i just left it. i just did a compression test and i got 165 so i think its all good. I got the quad all back together but i wasn't getting spark for some reason still got to check to makesure i have all wires connected right.
