i give pappy credit doing what he does because i was a moderator for a site and it was a pain in the arse at times because people wouldnt cooperate and they would say things that shouldnt be said and I had to go looking through everything making sure everything is good. its a job it really is

For being a person on here since this website started! I don't post much and really don't like to get into pissing matches on the site because its chicken chit, I would rather do it face to face. Took me a couple of years to realize that but ??? Personally, I could give a crap what a banned member said about you or anybody else. The person was banned and end of story. Don't need to hear anything else about it. I think you should take some time to think about it and see that you could be the bigger person in these situations. i don't know how the banning works but it just seems like you boot the person off the site right after they post some childish stuff. You guys talk about leeway , but aren't the ones dealing with hundreds of emails, PM's and reported posts everyday.

It's all pretty on the outside ..... forum discussions , tech reviews , race recaps .... but you guys seem to forget that the Mods have to deal with all the behind the scenes stuff .... emails about being an a-hole, reported posts about members insulting eachother, porn spam mail ... and then you get the members with personal vendettas against you.

This website isn't a free for all .... it's a person's livelyhood . If we let the kids , teens and adults run their chops and bring down this website , then someones bread and butter is taken away.

Store owners don't take well to someone comming into their store and running their chops or vandalising their property ..... so don't come onto someones business and think it's alright to post whatever you feel like.

Ben, the 42 year old was the age of the member I banned, then recieved the lewd emails from.

The video was posted on here a few months back, and it fit well with what I was sent in one of the emails. The irony was the wording of the email how it flowed with the videos theme...lol

I held my tongue months ago, the member was looking to take a new stab at me and he got booted. I found alot of humor in his little fit and posted about it. I appreciate the feedback, but guys, I am who I am and I do what I do.....like it or not:p

LOL..I got my account suspended at a photography website because I posted 3 times in the incorrect section. I was a newb and made a mistake, but it is their rules. I still go there and throughly enjoy the site...very very little BS, lots of good info.

Same with some of the gun sites I visit, some are free for alls that suck, others are very strict and you get no warning. Each site is different on how they run it, follow their rules or goes elsewhere.

And you never know who a mod is, never get a warning or never get to converse openly about an issue. To me, I understand it and enjoy it, others dont I geuss.

It wasn't childish to post, it was funny. We always allow funny. It would have been childish if Pappy identified him by name, and asked the site to spam him. That video is still one of my favorite of all time.


Maybe, as mods, our sense of humor changes a little. We see these things as funny because we deal with it day after day, people whining and complaining. We get rid of some dumb thread about picking your nose, and people start screaming "Censorship, freedom of speech!!", and those issues don't even apply. If you're going to get all indignant, you should first make sure you are correct.

You know why I find it all funny? Think about this: Why do people always accuse us of being on a power trip? The answer is because that's what THEY would do, THEY want that power. That's the entire reason they say things like "Me being banned is a bigger loss for the forum then for me" They say it because they want to hurt us in some small way, make us regret our actions. They'll rue the day they got rid of me, their forums will crumble without me, they'll come begging to take me back..."

Common Sense goes a long way.

Getting into a power struggle or cock fight with the forum moderators is asinine. The moderator has final say, period. It's a matter of mechanics. Also if you're struggling for power/control, you obviously are lacking the power or control you desire, thus the conflict.

People come and go. It's the lifecycle of a forum. A-holes just come and go a lot faster.. lol. No one member is irreplacable. and if anyone thinks they are, they really need a reality check.

People need to understand that this site is different. We want it run like you all are right here at our house or something along that line. We want everyone to feel comfortable and not be scared to ask for help and to pass info amongst the group as it were.

We have sponsors that help keep the bills paid and we ask that everyone respect that and not to spam up the site and if they want, to use the sponsors for their purchases. Trolls that have one goal are booted immediatley, just like 99.9% of you would ask someone to leave your store if they were standing there handiong out advertisments to your customers for your competitor. The same holds true with links to other sites. We dont allow it, mainly because this is our deal, and other sites can do all they like. Infact, we need other sites to help grow the sport, but we dont have to be the place everyone gets free advertising at. It is simple economics as we put alot of money back into the sport.

We also dont put up with personal attacks, and this is where some grey area seems to come to play. We as mods may push a little bit when we know there is a developing issue to get the situation dealt with on our terms. Some see this as a double standard, I see it as a proactive approach to deal with a person who has already shown us where they intend to go with their time here. I wouldnt put up with crap in my house, same applies here with some leeway because of our broad spectrum of diversity.

Fact of the matter is, you can have a blast here and learn a bit as well. If its more detailed info you seek, the net is full of various websites that can help narrow down the info your seeking and we encourage you to enjoy them all.

Your always going to have people complain about something, and thats their problem alone as we invest our time and money into the site and what we support and feel its our decision to make whether you agree or disagree. I dont visit places I do not wish to patronize, why shouldnt the net be any different, and here you are a guest just as you would be if standing in my living room.

My biggest problem is that I still try to be part of the site and do my best to get involved only if requested or see something that doesnt belong here. I enjoy the banter, the differing of opinions but have no tolerance these days for out right malicious attacks that are based on a personal disagreement or over an issue that revolves around our policies. We can talk about almost any issue you'd like, and we should be able to do it in a rational manner without the BS. Im a sucker for being dragged in when someone is spoiling for a fight....its a character flaw, not some power trip.

I get the luxury of banning 8 to 10 new members daily that arent members at all, merely spambots that make it through registration. I have the thrill of removing 20+ links a day that are advertising in nature. I get the joy of deleting the days cache of porn links posted at 4 am, and I get the exhuberant task of reading reported threads that contain more bashing on us (mods) because we did not see on page 35 of a thread where someone called someone a ninny.

If anyone thinks I personally enjoy an arguement or some internet fight with a member during the course of my daily tasks.....trust me, you are the last thing I want to deal with, care to deal with or enjoy dealing with. Keep that in mind when I seem a tad bit short or quick to react. I still look at everyone as equals, regardless of age and base my take on things completely on content. You act like a jackass you will be treated as such.

Other moderators also warned you about it.

There's only so much editing that can be done , before enough is enough. You've been warned , your posts have been edited in the past ... and you kept pushing. That's why things happened.

I did not nor do I care enough to take the time to look them up. You got banned plain and simple and there's not much you can do about it but take what stones you may have left and move on. It's a vicious cycle.

You seem to think that the warning is different than any other, a warning is just that, letting you know you crossed the line and should be taken seriously. But as you just posted seem to negate the fact.

I support what Pappy does for this site and the ATV community. If you don't like it, move on peasant.

dmaxx....i dont handle any of those type of issues, although some changes are coming because I will be doing even more with the site and will have admin priviliges so hopefully I can pitch in when people need something like this fixed.

When I do recieve those types of pm's, I forward them, I may not reply but I do read and send them where they need to go.
