who has this setup? How do you like it? any bad things about it? I know Jeff swears by this setup. Just wondering how everyone else likes them. How much adjusting did you have to do on the shocks? I will hopefully be buying this setup within the beginning of the Summer. Doing lots of research now.

Thanks pappy, input is most welcome. Does the extra width make a problem? I'm getting 4+1 race wheels for christmas. So that should bring it back in to regular width right?

if u get the +1s and then run 4-1 offset wheels, it will be 1 inch wider i believe. I just got the setup but with Axis shocks. I havent rode on it yet, cause mine is being completely redone. New frame, LT front end, LT back end, some engine stuff, all that good stuff.

:huh

I thought since the stock front wheels are 3+2, that adding an inch and then going with a more inset wheel you would stay at very close to stock width????

Just get the LT +1 arms and +4+1 Rims. That's what most GNCC racers use. It's a great setup and I wish I had the money to do it. The Elka's should be awesome. Only thing I would change is the Tires you want to buy. Stick with Razrs or Holeshots....

actually stock honda wheels on a 400EX are 5.5 inches wide. So they are either 3-2.5 or 3.5-2 either way they are 5.5 inches. I think it even sais that on the rim.

But anyways, u will be 1 inch wider with the +1s and 4-1 wheels.

so what offset would make it 2 inches wider on each side? a total of 4 inches wider. i think stock is 3.5 : 1.5.

who has this setup? Have it here :)

How do you like it? Best mod yet :D

any bad things about it? Everyones getting it now :(

How much adjusting did you have to do on the shocks? Didnt "have to" do any but you may want to if you like to adjust to the diff terrain you ride so its "plush" all the time.

I would suggest you give up food if it lets you get it sooner.

Went ridding with another exrider today (has elka triple rates and rear) and this is what he looked like after trying it.

:D

For some reason this was missing from above reply.

The offsets are a little confusing cause the OEM Honda rims are not as wide as the 3:2 .190 but I am told the 4:1 .190 are under an inch less width than stk.

So I had decided that if I do get the new front wheels I am looking at I would go 4:1 and be just over an inch over stk.

BTW the +1 LT are actually +1.375 ea for a total of 2-3/4 over stk then - 1.5" (from 4:1 offset) total of 1-1/4 over stk.

Damn thats confusing.

I have not had any concerns on the tight stuff so far with the STK rims.

Thanks for the info 440ex4me.

Give up food????:huh Ain't no way. Got's to gain back the weight I lost in the hospital this summer. 25 lbs. It just isn't coming back very easily. I may give up pop and candy and hair cuts and shaving creme but not food.

If you get the LT Rear you will need to do something to the Rear Shock. The best setup would be a LT Rear too, but that is expensive and involves some frame modifications. My brother is sponsored by Houser and in the papers he got they said something about making a new design swingarm for the 400ex. That will be interesting.

Yes they are working on something NEW for the swingarm setup on the 400ex. I can't wait.

Been hearing about that almost as long as the new chrome process gettin finished, well I guess ATV parts isnt their first priority :(

Too bad though cause it sounded like a great idea, and more so for me cause if they do it in the swing arm and not the top mount it would save me some work since I need to get a ext sawing anyway.

I can't wait. Starting to wonder if I can wait either :D
