View Full Version : xr500 top end on a 400ex

Anyone have any idea if it will work? It looks very similar to me. I konw honda parts are very swapable and wondered if this will work.

I know the XR400 head fits but that doesn't really help you!:p :D

yeah im looking for a way to go with a larger bore than is available with a 400.

I'd assume they're not compatible, but you could buy the XR500 gaskets and see.

There a completely different top end. The xr500's cam is only about half the length a 400ex cam and the head is completely different shape. The spark plug comes in from the left side and not the front. I have heard rumors they will work on a 350x motor but I KNOW they wont work on a 400ex!
