Decided to replace cam chain on my friends bike. The nut holding the clutch hub... Left hand or right hand threads?

The nut on the right... Left or right hand threads?

If I remember correctly they are both normal threads. The clutch basket for sure is staked too. Use an impact wrench to spin it off.

Preciate it. Just didn't want to go impacting the wrong way.

that nut has a dented in part on it that you should cut off with a dremel or it will screw up the threads.

no whats really weird my 400ex had the exact same dent or chip in the lock nut. my clutch lifter flew apart in there so i thought it came from there i guess i was wrong. and there right hand threads but you will probly have to put the plates back in and get someome to put pressure on them as you spin the nut off. and the other nut is the same right hand.

Both nuts spin off the same direction, use the impact like other said and it wont screw the threads up, make sure to restake it and torque it proper 80ft/lbs if I remember right but your gonna have to buy a clutch holder tool if you want to get it to the right torque cuz your hands will get cut holding the basket. While your at it clean out the screen at the bottom of the oil pump gear i'm sure if it wasnt cleaned before theres probably some crap in it, brakeclean works great, should be a 10-12mm.

Note : Clean up the motor alittle more than whats shown.
