i've never heard of it on a 400ex motor but I have seen a xr650 motor in a 400ex frame with dual carbs

How much more air flow would you need then say the 450R carb, you'd have to be doing some of the higher (465+) bores to need a dual set up and have it worth it.

ifyou can get ahold of a cylinder from at 80s xr500 they have duals. throttle response goes down the tube but the bike has phenomonal power. my dad had one. obliterated his shoe from kick the best over with out the compression release hah. but I know there engines are almost the same engines. there intake boot might be fairley same with a little mods. I think it would be effing sweet lol

what would be great is if the cylinder could fit the 400 bottom end.

The reason you see them on big bore bikes a lot is because you get better preformance with two small ones than one massive one.

There's a reason the 400ex comes with ONE carb. It's not that huge of an engine so two smaller carbs is just pointless. One does just fine.

When you get anywhere into the 600cc plus range, they benefit because otherwise they need one massive single carb which won't work as well.
