I was sifting through my pictures from the ATV Nationals at Birch Creek (Danville, VA) earlier......when I stumbled upon this shot of Natalie. I immediately also saw the photog in the background, working his way down the hill behind the tower.

I've got a good hunch on who it is........just basically wanting to clarify. :D

i dunno, my Nikons pay the mortgage:o

John had a spill in KY that got some nasty trackside water/grit in his eye. It developed into an infection. At Birch creek he was doing all he could to ride, even putting a patch over it.

I asked him how he thought he would do with the patch, because it would kill his depth perception.

he replied" I have to work, it is my job, you wouldnt quit right?"

i replied that i wasnt getting ready to hit big jumps at speed with one eye:p the man is a machine

You guys should really follow our race coverage..its all in there...lol

Yeah I really hated to see him with the eye injury as well. I have a couple more shots of him and the infected eye that I will try to post tomorrow night. Despite the vision problem, he still did decent.

natalie is a machine.gotta love the dude for that.i have known him for years now so this isn't a dig on him personally.but does anyone else(mainly the other pro riders) feel that it is a saftey issue for the other riders.example.on the holeshot,if you lined up to the left of him,he would never see you when hes cutting down on the pack in the 1st turn.did anyone try protesting him or anything??

I haven't kept up with all the results but it seems like John hasn't had all that great of a season. Hopefully he'll do better next year.

the d3 and higher end canons arent sealed as well as the prosumer bodies. I thought the D3 had full weather sealing? Or at least the best out of the Nikon bodies, that's what i've read..

Thats what the stock axle looks like. I seen pics of it in Quad magazine. The hubs are stretched out like that.

Yup, the stocker is adjustable from 46 to 50 inches, and would you believe they are hollow..??...

mx428, thats a hitch with the nikons, the step below the full "pro" slrs arent as sealed for some reason. it could be due to the body design, im not sure.

i will pick up a d3 shortly but for day in and day out work, the d300's are ok. deffinatley some things i am not happy about!

That kid with the polka-dot jersey was ripping it around there, he was a blast to watch/shoot.

Here are two more of Natalie......one was before the eye patch (early Saturday)......

And this one you can clearly see his good eye is centered (via his head position). He definately isn't looking ahead.....that small stretch he is on is right before the uphill left turn and the table top by the tower...

I've got a couple like this.....

It has to be those dang PINK goggles letting dirt in. ;) JK but that would really suck, I couldn't imagine riding with one eye.

You know......myself and a friend joked the pink goggles, but after thinking about it......I guess you really can't joke a pro for it. Even the announcer called out someone for wearing pink gear in an amatuer race........as well as the kid with the polka-dot gear. He said something long the lines of "you better be fast if.....". Needless to say, the pink geared rider and the polka-dot kid were very fast. :D

The polka-dotted kid is Cody Gibson. He is crazy fast!! I believe he is moving up to pro next year.

I think Cody Janssen will be fast too. I herd he's moving to pro in the next few years.
