Nausty, I tried that superman wheelie yesterday and the field is kinda bumpy so whenever I hit a bump I kept knockin my nads off the grab bar:confused2 . Il get better at it though.

I have a pic of me doin a one-footed + front bumper grab thats kinda similar to yours.

lol, yeah that what I hate about that wheelie. Try getting your front end up higher when you do it so there isn't as much weight on the jewels. lol.

LOL, its mostly the grab bar but also my license plate hahah, those dam sharp edges on the end of the plate hurt like a mother.
When I get my shifter back Il have my friend bring his digi cam and I get a pick of me doin it and the expression on my face after a nice long nad-tap with the grab bar.

I've got a stocker 250EX, and I can wheelie all the way from first to fifth, no problem. Usually I run off the road or I run out of road, due to imbalanced tire pressure. It kinda sux to fall on the grab bar and helplessly watch your quad run into woods in 4th gear.......:D

I remember I did a wheelie similar to that first pic except my right foot was on the bar and my left foot was in the air. I hit a bump and started to swivel like a door on the quad and fell off backwards, slamming my head hard on the ground. I had a headache for 3 days after that. I was just glad it didn't run over me... again.:p

I have been working on a new wheelie and I have it down pat now. I just need a friend to take the shot while I do it. I will do a wheelie sitting down, get to the balance point and do a heelclicker and put my foot back on the pegs. I can do a small video of it too next time he's down.

you do both. depending on where you got it balanced and stuff. if yur at the balance point you can just blip it to keep it up and stuff but when ur bring up the front end id say hold the throttle

best way is to try to keep a constant throttle and you can ride it forever [but its harder], but i blip the throttle when adjusting or messing around.

when my front end is dropping and im in like 3rd or 4th gear sometimes i hold it wide open and start switching gears to try to keep it up. once you learn to ride wheelies its like nothing. sometimes i can just floor it and switch threw the gears while riding a wheelie, but ussually only happens when im about to loose a wheelie.

yeah theyre pretty easy and look kinda cool. i like puttin one foot on the rack get some speed up in like 4th gear to where itll coast and grab the racks and ride it like that till it gets ready to either fall back or fall forward.

thats a pretty nice wheelie, i cant figure out how to grab my bumper, or atleast my plastic up front. if u have any advice, i'd accept it well :D

put a foot in the grab bar and pop it up pretty high in first, reach over the bars while giving it alittle gas and hold onto the bumper, make sure your quad is pretty high up so you can be somewhat comforatble while holding the bumper. then just let go, thats how i do it. good luck!

hey people, nice wheelies...Does anybody know how to do a slo-mo wheelie, my friend just taught it to me, we dont have much open room to do wheelies so we pop the clutch and use the clutch and the rear brakes alot and just hold it balanced in one spot for long periods of time with out moving or putting it on the wheelie bar, it looks real trick, its nice and a lot of fun, try it...i am getting some pics on here by next week, you guys will like these...no hander(1 & 2), no footers, side seat sadles, over the bars, standing up, dragging left hand on the ground, and even superman wheelies! its crazy

Well if you "know the rules" about not wearing helmets and still post pics about it..... you should be booted.

It plainly states at the bottom of every page that riding an ATV without a helmet is condemned by exriders and all pics will be deleted. (or something like that)

hey im new to this forum and jsut got my 400ex! its a used 2001 and i got a sweet deal on it. ive learned how to use the clutch good, so now im tryin to master wheelin it. i can kinda wheelie my 2000 rancher but not very good. where about is the "sweet spot"?

Well the sweet spot is kinda hard to describe...at least for mee...but its pretty far back but what I did to learn how to wheelie good is to put m right foot back on the grab bar and leave the other foot on the peg and then wheelie it back...This makes it really easy to pop up and if you need to hop off the back if it goes on the wheelie bar you can...That helps to get you used to where you need to balanced. Then once I got good at that I started doing it sitting down and using my rear brake to bring me down some if I start to go back. Once you get good though you'll know the sweet spot.

i can pretty much hold a wheelie as long as i want to through the first 3 gears, im still workin on the last two. i think it is easier to wheelie in 2nd gear because u r going a little faster and its not as hard for me anyway to give it too much throttle or brake. the best way to learn tho is to put your foot back on the grab bar because u can see where ur giong better and u can get it up easier. You cant be afraid to put it back on the grab bar either. u prolly wont be able to concentrate on riding the wheelie if ur just thinking about keeping from hittin the bar.

i made my own grab bar out of solid half inch steel so it will not bend. my friend did the same thing on his blaster and he actually broke his frame but not his grab bar.

Just wanna say somthing about RideRed250ex... Im not gonna flame him or anytthing, I just wanted to say that the first picture.. a few of my friends tried to Do... 3 guys on the ex 1 on the handlebars 1 driving and 1 on the, they all had helmets on but when he set it down it "bounced" and my friend on the front fell infront of the tires and they like.. pushed him for maybe 20 feet.. hes knees were ALL cut up and everything, he said it was hard to walk :\

My first Wheelie was on a 400ex i fell off the back at about 45 on the black top. I dont have a pic of that but i have a pic of the lack of skin on my @$$ afterwards if any one wants to see that???

Just a quick post.
To help some of you, standing up and sitting Waaay back while in a wheely isnt going to help u improve.. standing up comes later on when u masterd a wheely.. jsut sit on it liek you would on all fours... start in 1st or second
or 3rd 4th 5th.. whatever.. my bike pulls up in all gears.. but jsut be relaxed.. find the balance point and aplly throttle when u need to.. jsut be relazxed most of all.


Annnd... um Nausty, Nice quad... love it man wish had teh desire to spend almost 200 for one of those wheels haha. Nice

thats something like what we have, a huge bean field like 175-200 yards long that i can wheelie just about all of the way down, standing up, sitting down, shifting through the gears or just pulsating... no pics yet tho :( gotta wait til spring when its nice and warm

on the 250, put both feet on the grab bar and give it some gas in first. from there either sit onto the seat or put a knee on the seat a your foot on the brake. THe balance point is almost at 12 o'clock in first. The balnce point is considerably lower in higher gears because of the speed. don be afraid to stick on the grab bar in first, the quad wont flip and you wont get hurt goin 5mph:)

The 400ex is the Wheelie KING. I can wheelie 1st thru 5th gear on mine and all it has is a K&N and jet kit. For your first couple days of practicing wheelies put one foot back on the grab bar and one on the brake or the shifter (depending on if you want to use the breake to balance or the shifter to go thru the gears). When i shift when im in a wheelie i dont use the clutch.It took me about 4 months of riding to get good at wheelies so dont expect it to be easy. Just find a field and practice. If your scared of flipping my advice is to purposely put the quad on the grab bar just so that you see it doesn't hurt when you fall. (my friends told me to do this and I did it to humor them thinking it was a dumb idea, but it really worked). As soon as your a** starts dragging on the ground just let go. Try not to bend the grab bar. It probably wont hurt it if your in 1st. The 250 will be harder to wheelie just because it has less power. I would say try the same method as i just described for the 400 or use the method Revilingfool described. After you master the wheelies with a foot on the grab bar, start trying to get them up just by sitting as far back on the seat as you feel comfortable with and just blip the gas enough to get it up. Do this a few times to get a feel for how the quad reacts to throttle at different speeds. As soon as you have a handle on it you need to find your balance point. When your on the quad try to find the spot where you feel most uncomfortable without flipping. That is your balance point :blah: . May sound stupid but that is where you have to try and keep it. You will get more and more comfortable with this the more you do it. Don't be afraid of tipping the quad over the grab bar stops this from happening. This is prolly a little unclear but my excuse is that i am tired. Hopefully I provided some useful info but i may not have:confused: . Good Luck. Remember, practice makes perfect.

I can never wheelie for more than 1 gear on my quad, and I suck at it on my dirt bike. But I can wheelie for ever on my bmx bike, as long as it is a slight up hill. if it is doun hill then I have to manual it.


I think it would be sick to see a pic of a guy wheeling with no front tires. I do it all the time on my bmx bike but never on a wheeler.

I know this is an old thread, but if you are still looking for a good way to haul your camera, go to Target or wherever and buy a "bell" bicycle handlebar bag. It has velcro straps and you can strap it to the frame of your wheeler right behind the bumper. It works great. that is what I use and I haven't had any problems yet. Also I bought a "Lowepro" gel camera case at best buy and it helps absorb the bumps. Hope this helps you out.

fanny packs are easy to use if you wear them loose so as you can slide them to the side to avoid your body during riding. and if you fall backwards or get slid of perhaps you wont land on it

I would rather stuff my pockets full than wear a fanny pack.

My friend did that on his Banshee in 6th gear..... too bad he was going downhill and with no grab bar, the quad flipped out from underneath him and he hadda get an *** load of stitches on his right side *nexxt to his ribs.

Put your camera in your lil tool box that comes with the quad.
Just put arm bands around it so it doesn't get banged up.

If I had a scaner I could show you a great shot of me doing a wheely. I can do them in first going really slow forever, in second I start about half throttle, lean back and pin it for about 20 yards. In third starting about half throttle, pulling up and pinning it for about 50 yards. In fourth, I start about 3/4 throttle, and I need a very small bump, (say 3 inches) pull up hard, and pin it. In fourth it lasts about 12 yards. Can't even think about fifth gear.
