BIKING ENERGY, ENDURANCE and FAT

What Every Athlete Needs To Know

During a race, your working muscles rely on many things to keep them going such as oxygen, electrolytes, hormones, and a far less familiar tiny molecule called ATP. ATP is without a doubt the most critical nutrient needed for energy production as every cell in our body relies on it to operate. It is what your body uses for energy all day every day. During times of physical activity, ATP needs become dramatically increased and how well your body responds to these needs will directly affect your racing performance. When demands are not met, your body becomes tired, sluggish and it can even hit what many athletes call “the wall”. Therefore, it is extremely important to understand what affects your body’s ATP levels if you want to maximize your racing performance.
Where Do You Get ATP From?

FAT: Your body’s most critical energy source of ATP

Your body takes Carbohydrates, Fats and Protein from the food you eat and turns it into ATP so you have the energy to function. Some of the excess carbohydrates that you eat can be stored in liver and muscle tissue and act as a reserve tank for when your body needs them later.
During times of exercise such as a race, your body’s need for ATP increases dramatically because your body is working so hard and is burning up ATP at an incredible rate.
Due to the increased demand, your body eventually starts using up the stored carbohydrates (also called glycogen) from your liver and muscles and turns it into ATP for energy. Your body does this for a while but as the race continues, your body starts to do something absolutely amazing. It shifts its source of energy from carbohydrates to fat in times of exercise. It does this because your body knows that prolonged exercise calls for extreme measures and it wants to produce as much ATP as possible so you can continue to perform at your peak.
While carbohydrates are a very valuable source of energy, they are not nearly as powerful as fat is for energy. When carbohydrates are broken down, they produce 19 ATP per molecule of glucose (blood sugar). In contrast, one molecule of free fatty acid produces an unbelievable amount of 441 ATP. 441 to 19. That is a lopsided score in any sport.

“Most people are under the impression that carbohydrates are your body’s best energy source – Not true. While carbohydrates are extremely important, one molecule of glucose only produces 19 ATP while one molecule of free fat produces 441 ATP”

CARDIO STACK: Taps Into Fat Stores Faster And Produces ATP

Cardio Stack was designed to address all of the components of true fat metabolism from beginning to end so that your body can maximize the amount of fat it converts into ATP. The more fat that you tap into, the more ATP you produce. The process that your body goes through to do this is defined in 3 stages. Stored fats must go through these 3 stages in order to be broken down and converted into ATP for energy production.

Stage 1: The Release of Fatty Acids From Fat Tissue

You must first take stored fat and release it into the blood in order for it to be converted into ATP.
Fatty acid release from fat (adipose) tissue is initiated through the activation of hormone sensitive lipase, an enzyme that triggers the release of fat from fat cells. Cardio Stack contains nutrients that have been clinically shown to support the activation of hormone sensitive lipase, thereby initiating fat release. The clinical data demonstrated an increase in fatty acid release a dramatic 44 percent greater during exercise than compared with the control group. This increase in fatty acid release set the stage for an eventual increase in ATP levels.

Stage 2: The Transport of Fatty Acids

Once fats are released into the blood stream they are then in need of a transport mechanism. Fats must be transported to a part of your muscle cells referred to as the “powerhouse of the cell” in order to be converted into ATP. Without a transport system, they can never reach the area of your muscle cells where they are turned into ATP. Cardio Stack contains the single most important nutrient found in the human body necessary for transporting fatty acids to this area of the body. Furthermore, clinical studies on this nutrient indicate a dramatic increase in the conversion of fatty acids to ATP during exercise, which is the 3rd and final stage of this process.

Stage 3: Turning Fatty Acids Into ATP

Fats that have been transported to your muscle cells will then undergo a process called beta-oxidation at which point they will be converted into ATP (energy). Cardio Stack contains nutrients that have been clinically shown to increase the conversion of fatty acids into ATP. Clinical Trials conducted by the university of Geneva, in Switzerland indicate that a nutrient found in Cardio Stack increases the conversion of fat into ATP.

The more fat you release and transport during exercise the more you will have freed up to be converted into ATP. This becomes even more crucial during exercise as your body’s demand for ATP increases dramatically. By supplementing with the right nutrients your body may be able to enhance this process and give you the racing advantage you are looking for
