I got offered to trade for 1 of two 250f's for my 110. the first is a 2004 yz250f that is clean, runs good, never was really used, but he wants 500 on top of the 110. The other (same guy) is a 2004 crf250r with a good list of mods, including an 05 head. He said he'd like to trade that straight up for the 110, but the catch is it "needs a connecting rod"

I can replace a rod, (id do an entire crank) but is it really worth it? I mean it could be possible that the crank blew apart and wrecked the cylinder, pieces got everywhere, or the bearing could just be worn..

heres a pic of both bikes..

Do you want to ride or wrench? The extra $500 would put you back on the dirt instead of the garage:p

well see thats whats im not sure about. because i still have my EX to rip on (finally got it back in working order lmao)

but the crf is such a better handling and performing bike, and i wouldn't mind spending the time to get it back in working order, but im not sure the intensity of a wrecked connecting rod.. ya know?

yzf
you kno that you can ride it when you get home
now you can open the crf and find many more things wrong with it than he mightve listed
jus think about the possiblities

The Crfs got nasty valve problems too. You always gotta keep them in check.

I would easily pay 500 bucks for a low hour bike (plus the trade) versus a bike that needs work. You just never know....

From the looks of it..... The Honda looks like it has way more hours than the Yamaha...

I'd personally go for the Yamaha... You don't wanna be digging into that motor, to find out theres alot more wrong than just a connecting rod. jmo

IMHO.. if the connecting rod is known to be bad.. odds are there are a lot more issues, too.

the honda probly dont even handle better.. just arraenge with him some kind of deal incase its more then a connecting rod if you really want the honda.

ive ridden both, of course the yz i rode was an 03, and the crf i rode was an 08, the crf was a dream compared to the yz. but the crf was set up for a weight closer to me too soo..

ill probly go with the yz, just like you guys say because i really don't know whats all wrong, and i do wanna ride more then wrench at the moment.
