timing off cause oil burning?

my timing is off one tooth to the intake side...would that cause me to burn oil...just wondering bc if not im doing a complete rebuild...

dude how do you start it ? mine was off one time and it would not fire up. so i retimed it. but im prety sure it shouldnt burn oil even if it is off.
