First day hitting my friends new FMX ramp

This is the first time I ever hit a metal ramp....and its sooo much better then dirt! I loved it, we started pretty close and moved it back in 3 feet increments. Right now we are still pretty close at 25 feet but the ramp design is good for 75 feet according to my friend who built it. He is on the LTR and Im on the 400....But thought I would share some pics for your viewing pleasure haha...

Nice pics!! How was the curve done on the ramp?? Looks good, was it cut and weld or actually bent?

He had it bent at a machine shop they did a really good job on it...its pretty close...but yeah its scary as heck but at the same time I love it haha

Thats cool, how much did it cost him to have them bent? And is there any chance you could get some dimensions of the ramp, I'm looking to build one this winter

I know you say it was "scary" hitting that ramp, but in all reality, it is a lot safer then hitting a dirt or sand dune jump.....that ramp is the exact same every time, dirt and sand move, causing the jump to change constantly. ;)

Haha well the watering trailer was gone that day sooo we filled the fire extinguisher and a weed spraying tank to take care of some of the dust right in front of the jump haha needless to say didnt last long haha

Thatd be my ramp in the pics. It is the Aussie comp ramp specs. specs below. I will be redoing the ramp a few months down the road as I want to make it a trailer ramp, so its a lot easier to move.

Thats actually almost the exact kind of setup I was wanting to do, except I couldnt ever find any in depth info about it. It doesnt look too complicated though so I think I can wing it. Itd be great though if you could email some closer up pics of the hinge/axle setup.

Thanks for the pics, I think I will be building a stationary ramp. How much did it cost you to have the tubes bent?

It was 60 an hour and so it ended up being 180, but I'm sure that will vary depending on where you get it done at. They also told me I should have bought 1/4 in thick instead of 1/8 for the pieces being bent since they get streched to thin.

Sorry man but I don't have more pictures. It's pretty trick tho, It's hooked up to a winch, so all you have to do is press a button to raise and lower it:cool:

if your gonna be bringing that ramp past 25 feet.. i'd deff get more dirt for a bigger landing... you want to be able to see the top of the landing comeing up to the ramp. it helps with judging your speed when you start bringing it back to like 50+ feet... the bigger and the safer the landing the better tricks you can throw
