Just got my butt kicked at the National Hillclimb in OH. Have been looking at the 413 Puma kit from CP Indust. I think I need something that pulls really hard instead of a lot of wheel spin?? My 340 stock stroke wont keep up with the big LT 500 and Banshees. You think the 413 will do it?

There's a lot that can be done to an engine before you just throw displacement at it. But yea making it bigger will help overcome power issues. Look at 4strokes as an example.

Have you called CPI? I want to get some of his cylinders eventually too. I haven't dealt with them yet.

I dont have a ride report on the new Puma Motor but I know they have be some R&D done on them and still working on them. There was one that made 92hp.

damn thats a pretty flat torque curve, Id enjoy something like that :D

I've never riden a 250R with an aftermarket jug, so I dont know if its possible to get a 250R based motor to hang with the big bores, but I can say that my built zilla makes my MX LRD 250R seem like a trx90.

Keep us posted on your progress

methyman: do you have that chart in rpms?

You can find the exact same chart in RPM format in the dyno section and also here in the 250R forum. Just use the search feature, or look under my username in the dyno section or here as well.

A friend has the Sphynx (78 bore x 76 stroke = 363cc) and plans on getting to the dyno soon.

I've heard of a CR500 jug on a 250R bottom end, with machining of couse. Anybody else hear of these? Should reduce the vibration issue.

Mabye that is a puma??? Not sure where I saw these.

The Puma is a new cylinder. It is not a CR500 cylinder. It uses the same bolt pattern as the OEM jug on the base.

The Puma is made by a foundry here in Oklahoma (CP Industries, Inc) and has the latest two stroke port technologie incorporated into it. The same foundry is also involved in the sno-mo industry as well.

www.cpindinc.com

Same company also makes the Cheetah, Cheetah Cub, Cheetah Super Cub, Cheetah DM, Cheetah DMX, as well as the Sphynx, Sabertooth (a better option than the CR500...) Caracal, Cougar, and Scimitar to name a few of the ATV oriented cylinders.

The same company also makes the big bore cylinder marketed by NMotion for the four strokers.

that would be the saber as butters said. over the years there have been all kinds of ideas. Pilot 400 cylinders, cr500 cylinders, cr250 cylinders, 400 polaris cylinders, the pro-x cylinders, i think PSI has their own cylinder, and now the 3 offered by CP

Here is the email I got

431 Im assuming your wanting to build a 4mm stroke 85 bore? If so here iswhat the kit will consist of and cost. Puma Cylinder plated: $840.10Puma Head: $142.87Piston and Rings: $146.00Wrist Pin Bearing: $16.75VForce Reeds(cr500): $148.95Water Jacket inlet: $13.83Water Jacket Outlet: $10.58Exhaust Flange: $29.83O-Ring Kit: $15.38Bolt Kit: $84.41Gasket Kit: $47.95Crankcase Seal Kit: $32.95Crank +4mm Stroke: $310.50 Total $1840.10 There will also be some case work needed to fit the 85mm bore and the intakeis not included because I did not know what size carb you are running. Butother than that this should everything to get the motor running. There aresome other things that I recommend such as a lockup clutch, custom pipe, andignition but your bolt on that you have now will work just not to the motorsfull potential. ThanksAndyM&M ATV

ESR is working on a new big bore cyl. and has found a good foundry on the west coast to do what he wants.Early stages but before you buy you may call them and ask about it.It will haul and last.Thier new shop is 4 min from the dunes and hard testing is done on a regular basis.

Just want to clarify that the CR500 jug on the TRX250R bottom end is NOT the Sabertooth.

The Sabertooth is a cylinder made by CP Ind Inc. (http://www.cpindinc.com) that is made for the 250R and can be made as large as a 95 bore X 76 stroke (538.7cc's).

Rog

The guy who builds my 2 stokes at Mystic has a Sabretooth. He's been working on some issues with it, but it is a bad *** setup. I think my fist will fit in the carb LOL
