Ok. Well I got oil at my Local Motorcycle dealer, and I bought

Pro Honda GN4 Genuine 4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil Sae 10w-40sj?

Thats what the people there said I needed? In my owners manual it says 10w-30. Is the 10w-40 ok????

Also the oil filter they gave me is Pt#15412-MEN-671
Is that correct???

I bought 2 qt's. I saw that in the owners manual it says only like .76 qt's? Thats not very much!!

Also how frequently do I need to change my transmission oil? Is it the same exact oil as the engine side? Is this oil I got good/the best???? Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!

I think the 10w/40 is a better choice for our climate. I have run that in my '07 since new and it has been fine. The filter part # is the same one I am using for the '07 and I don't believe there are any differences between the '07 & '08 filters, the oil capacities are also correct, just be aware that it is .76 PER SIDE. I personally change my oil on both sides roughly every three rides. The engine side oil always turns black after the first ride but the tranny oil has looked like new every time I've changed it, but better safe than sorry imo.

ETA: Get this, Service Manual for the '06-up...

Not that the crank in the pic failed because of improper or infrequent oil changes, I'm just using the pic to illustrate how expensive a failed crank bearing can be.

I change both sides and change the filter after EVERY day of riding. As well as clean and re-treat the air filter.

Can not say enough about fresh fluids...

I have gotten some good feedback from guys here on what types of oil everyone is running also.

This weekend I ran Valvoline 20-50 VR1 in the engine and Honda GN4 10-40 in the tranny.

Once the temps stay lower I will run that 10-30 water again I guess?
