OEM crank and either a weisco or Pro-x piston

has alot to do with what type of riding you'll be doing the most of as to how to set/match the addons.

i'd go with the oem crank and a pro-X or wiseco piston and be sure you use a machinist that knows how to tolerance the cylinder to piston.

okay thanks. but would a +4 crank make a diffrence or is it not worth buying..and im looking for a strong mid to top end range..and what are the other best ways to reach this?

stroker cranks require different porting done on the cylinder. That probably will have a big effect on your opinion of them.

Im looking to pick up a 89 bottom end also with a 86 top end, being the 88 on up are 4mm longer I will use a spacer plate, who makes a good Plate?
Also this will increase the Torque on the 86?? and the CC change also?? what a 260??

I agree that a longer rod would make more power but.... wouldn't a shorter stroke rev faster and be able to handle higher rpms better?

no, the longer rod doesn't make more power. It deceases the angle of the piston, thus reducing wear. Stroker cranks will make more power, but as I'm led to believe actually have a shorter rod. In 87-89 the wrist pin location of the piston was moved 5mm higher for the 5mm longer rod. Stroke for all year 250r's stayed the same. What some say revs faster is when you keep the matching rod to piston. Lots of people(like me) use 87-89 crank, 85/86 piston and 4.5mm spacer plate, this reduces crank case pressure and revs slower, making more tractable power.
