450 all the way. You will be dissappointed with the power of the 400EX. You will get used to not having reverse.

dido, 450 without a doubt.

the power will make up for no reverse, spin it around 180 with a blip on the throttle.

Yes 06 and up come either button or kicker. For about $400 in parts you can add a kicker to the electric start as a back up.

There is nothing wrong with a 400 for in the woods. I say it is 99% rider. If you can't ride more power won't help.

well said. i told my best friend it dont matter how many modifications you have on your quad, it dont make you a better rider. you just have a better quad.. anyone can go wide open down down a paved road. less than half can go wide open through the woods..

I agree 100%, but get 2 equal riders one an a fast quad and one on a slower one.

Who's going to win?

That's my point.

Plus you can gain ground in the faster sections.

This guy is right. I had an 07 400ex and had to press the start button like 20 times before it decided to idle and reverse was geared so tall it was hard to use without stalling or running into stuff behind you. I actually like kickstarting mine. Its not hard.
