Doesn't this make you ex riders mad? I understand that some girls know how to ride, and that's awesome, but it seems like everyone is just trying to say how slow and underpowered an ex is by saying their girlfriend rides one. I agree with them, my 400ex was too slow, but what do you guys think?

Yeah let them talk, they've been doing that all season. Last weekend I think I shut some of them up when I came out of the 1st turn 4th out of 12 450's.

I ride an EX. I don't consider my manhood to be in jeopardy because a lady can ride one. I applaud any woman (or anyone for that matter) who is willing to go riding regardless of what they ride. There are a number of young ladies in the groups I ride with that own, or regularly ride, 450's and Raptor 660's and 700's. I'm new to the sport and specifically chose the 400ex as my first ride because it is affordable, bulletproof, and easy to learn on without being unpredictable, or overkill. It has plenty of power to keep up with any of the people I ride with, except in a drag race. And since I'm not a drag racer, I'm not missing anything. Eventually I may upgrade (I've eyeballed the Outlaw IRS and 700xx), but that would have more to do with a back injury than with manly ambitions. Besides, if I want to appear manly I can always say my back was injured during martial arts... ;)

That's so true. Why just this weekend I saw a lady riding a 450r, a YFZ, and 2 ladies riding LT-Rs. Hows that feel.

i coul care less what others say if they are trying to mock something like this. Just think of before the 450's the 400ex was the most modern best thing you could buy. All the top racers either had a 400ex or 250r, all I used to see at tracks and where i went riding 400ex's everywhere. it was the quad to have. you cant bash it because it basically started up 4 stroke sport quads racing and stuff. If all the pro's where happy on them then, then anyone who rides one should be satisfied. The 450's arent for everyone. I love how the 400ex handles and how it performs. It needs a few things but what doesnt? It can be lugged down and has a nice snap to it. I love it and sometimes I wish the 450's never came along so the 400ex would still be out on top and i'm sure Honda would have made it amazing if it was their best quad.

Anyone can ride any quad. The question is, can they take the machine to its limits?

There is a big difference between the modded 400s you guys have and the 400s that the "girlfriends" ride. Those are stock, yours are not. A stock 400ex is a mellow ride.

I like how the 400ex can be rode hard and can run right with the best of them but also you can take it easy. The 400ex is the most easy to ride quad there is I think even easier then most of the beginner quads with a clutch. It is very forgiving. I traded my 400 for a 450r and I miss that about it that you can just take it easy when you want to. On my 400ex I taught my g/f to ride it in 5 minutes and she never even rode with a clutch before. if she tried learning on my 450 it would put her on her butt if she messed up and it won't go slow. The 450s are all out or nothing. Sometimes on saturday my dad would use my 400 for riding out to his tree stand for hunting and on sunday I would take it racing and monday ride it to work.

as long as your out there riding i honestly dont think i should matter.
doesnt matter the bike, gender any of that.
its about the love of the sport.
sometimes all u can do is let the haters talk..
the 400ex is a sweet ride tho

when my wife had a 400ex, i would say that she rode a 400ex out of pride. i was very proud of her for her ability on it, considering how little she would ride...

My wife rides my 450r, not much, just puts it around a little. She also rode my RM250 with a Pro Circuit power-plant....slowly.

What does a woman riding a bike have to do with anything?

I know of 7 girls/women personally that ride. they are on 400ex, yfz450, raptor 700, z400, 250ex, raptor 350, z250. So gender doesnt matter one bit because we all know there are woman riders like Angela Butler that could kick most of our arses. the 400ex is just so easy to ride in almost anything, i think thats what makes it so great. that and reliability being "bullet proof" and just the way the power band is it doesnt mind being lugged down which is wh i am not on a 450r. I just love the feel of the 400ex and i feel right on it

they are underpowered than the 450's, but i applaud any girl who is willing to get up and ride on something that is that powerful. it may not keep up with the 450's, but the bike has plenty of balz. in the woods, the 450's cant touch me, fields are a different story. my sis started riding mine when she was 13, and she does very well.

My ex girlfriend wanted to start riding with me. I told her a stock 400 would be perfect. I explained to her i started MX on a 400 and when you get used to the power they can be really opened up. She demanded a 450R cause she wanted to be like me so i baught her a 450. she rode it one time and realized i just aquired a practice quad and never brought it up again hahahha

after turning my 400ex into a fire breathing yz400/426f hybrid and then buying a 450r the 400ex is slow and underpowered. i mean i was happy with my 400 when i got it. but my love for it faded. yes i could keep up with my buddys on there 450s in the woods but you can only go so fast in the woods. after riding a hybrid for awhile and switchign to a 450r all in one summer i dont think i can go back to a 400.

my girlfriend also rides a 400ex but just cuz they are girls dont mean they cant handle the power either.. my girlfriend and I race nationals and she takes top 3 or 4 out of 12-15 girls (all on 450's) granted we have it bored, port work, cam , 450r carb .lol... so when half these guys out there say "my girlfrieng rides a 400" I think ya well my girl friend can probably beat u on your 450..lol
