I just got my R up and running and runs real well. I have a 265 w/ high compression and a 38mm carb. I have a curtis sparks TT pipe (thought is was a MX pipe but it's not). It has a lower mount which I mounted to the motor mount. Well my pipe bounces off the water pump cover. I would prefer to get a pipe that mounts up top like the LRD's. What pipe is comparable to the cutis sparks TT pipe? That is a high end pipe right?

look into the ESR line, some of the best pipes for the R and compared to other new pipes they are pretty cheap.

why don't you just make a little piece that'll raise the pipe up?

What cd said.I just bought a new ESR pipe and had to make spacers and bracket extensions to get it to sit where I wanted it to.

Or you could just get straight RED NECK on it and dent the pipe around the water pump cover, thats what the previous owner did to mine.

I've never ran a sparks tt pipe, heard they are one of the best pipes always hear of people looking for them. your right they are more of a high rpm pipe.

I may just dent it. That sounds like a cheap easy fix. If I made longer brakets the pipe would prolby leak more anyhow.

Don't dent the pipe take a few minutes and fab up a mount use some exhaust gasket seal and it shouldn't leak. The sparks TT and MX pipes are getting to be kind of rare haven't been made for years and people pay a good $$ for undented clean TT and MX pipes.

I dont have any other pipes to compare it too, but my set up runs dead even with a 310 thru the gears and he usally pulls me by a quad and a half in 6th. So I feel it is a good performing pipe, I have great power everywhere.

I was looking at the center mount ESR5 for my sons duner, wow with silencer is 500 bucks !!!
He has a FMF fatty on now, and I know that pipe sucks, is the Paul Turner Midrange or dominator any good??

the PT "89 race" is practically the same as the sparks mx. not sure about the dominator?

I personally prefer the ESR 5, or even the ESR 11, pipe for my builds.

I use to run a Sparks TT pipe. Don't any more.

Here's a dyno of my bike comparing the ESR 5 std. mount to the Sparks TT. The two pipes were ran on the same motor back to back on the dyno. No other changes.

Run 011 is the Sparks TT; run 022 is the ESR5.

The ESR5 pipe I used in my comparison is not one of the newer designs out.

The pipe I used is a couple of years old.

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree about the FMF!! When I went back to my stock jug from the ESR 310 kit, I kept my ESR TRX5 pipe, 38mm PWK A/S carb, slapped on a ESR cool head, open air box, and CR250 reed cage. The motor had a very sluggish bottom and I always was upset with the seal of the pipe at the cylinder flange. I swapped to a FMF Fatty and restored a noticeable low-end with a smoother mid-range hit. I now have a C-Leigh ported stock jug with the same pipe...the powerband is fantasitc....it's perfect for the hare scramble racing I do. I think the FMF fatty (for the money and availablility too) is the best all-round pipe made, at least for a stock or slightly ported stock jug.

Also not to mention the fact that FMF was smart enough to bend the pipe enough to not have to notch your plastics....something that still pains me today to have done on my OEM original 88 plastics with the dumb TRX5 pipe.

Yeah for some reason fmf pipes get a lot of flack.True they may not be the first pipe on the tips of everyones tongues but they do make a good 250r pipe.Sure it might not be the best for a 295 big bore r but for a mild 250r,they work pretty good imo.Its a good all around powerband for trails or mx.Im going to try my pt pipe when i get a chance,my lrd pipe rips on the mid and up but its almost too violent on some hillclimbs.We have trees we have to go between in these parts:D
