put a 42 pilot jet in and it will start up much better. stock is 38. buy a manual if you dont have one. it is a really easy to do. maybe try adjustin the idle screw as well, its the screw exposed on the bottom of the carb.

x2 on the 42 pilot.

Mine just SUCKED starting. Wouldnt rev up, and would die constantly.

I threw the 42 in and what a difference. It starts up so easily and doesn't stall or anything. I always heard that it did that, but always though people over exagerated it. but they werent. lol

Another on the 42 pilot, i just recently did it to mine, and its a nite and day difference. Its the best thing that will bring a 400 to life. Plus a few other mods. But a 42 pilot is the way to go...

a 42 pilot is good for anything lol starting it is easier and when you have mods done it should have the right amount of fuel to flow at idle and off idle. I know my brother doesnt have a bigger pilot jet with the HMF slip on, K&N, and stage 1 hotcam just the A/F screw is adjusted and he has to use the choke to start it when its 85 degrees out lol I keep telling him he needs a bigger pilot but heck what does a younger brother know right? same with his chain he has it so tight if you sit on the back bar and then try to move the chain up and down it moves maybe 1/8th" so its probally going to snap but he claims its fine lol
