First Valve Adjust - how long did you wait?

I have a new 07 ER, wondering how long you all waited to adjust the valves?

WAs hard to start cold last night, maybe getting tight? I have maybe 8 - 10 hours on it which seams low for an adjustment. I usually went 40 plus on my bikes.

i would do it right away, sometimes the valve come out of whack from the factory. probably after the first ride would be what i recomend. this way the valve would have already seated, you'll adjust them and they should stay in spec for a while.

The manual doesn't call for it until 250 miles. I did mine at the end of the first season. Probably 25-30 hours.

just curious, but what is the clearance supposed to be on the 07 valves?

you should always check the valve clearence after any break in.

04-08 all have .006in Intake & .011in exhaust. well thats what honda recommends. some people keep tighter clearences like .004in intake & .006 exhaust, i think

Those are the right measurements? Im trying to adjust my valves myself...

i know for a fact that the .006 intake, and .011 exhaust is what honda recomends, but i dont know what some people adjust to.

I go .006 on intake and .009 on the exhaust.

I had 50+ hours on mine before the first valve adjustment was done and I had 3 valves exactly spot on with pro-rider46's specs, while the 4th, an intake valve was just out at 0.07
