To me, EFI is more convenient for adjusting/tuning ...... But definitly does not mean the Yamaha is falling behind.

IMO, the Yamaha (stock for stock/mod for mod) is just as competitive as any of the other 450's...... Except for maybe the KTM :blah: . They all have their pro's and con's in different area's.

If the YFZ wasn't the first 450 to come out, it wouldn't be looked at as outdated.

I have heard from a very reliable source that Yamaha is introducing an all new model, race ready quad out of the box. Blow the competition right out of the water. :D

i hope they keep the same plastic/fenders instead of making it look like an alien like the other 450s

I think that they should keep the carb on it i have an ltr and yea the fuel injection is great and adjusting is easy and all but its a ***** to get it working i resently rebuilt my ltr and i still cant get all the wiring and sensors right. but when i get it together i have a feeling it will be awesome. but yea i think yahmaha should keep the carb.

I agree the yfz does have the seat tank lines. All of the dirt bikes have the same basic lines and yam did get it right with the yfz. They should all look diff but use this proven basic line.Who cares who did it first....like the bikes when it's right its right.

I was just on the Yamaha website and there is another 2009 model intro at 3pm EST Monday listed. I guess we will see - it could be for their street bikes since most were not released yet either.

on quad magazine's website i saw a pic of the new yfz looked badazz mx width, efi, different shocks, but had 20" on back and 21" on front i figured they would go with 18 and 20 for mx i wonder when it will get released and price

I bought mine in april 08 -
Disappointed - Absolutley not

if you think about it, i'm racing MX

the new YFZ is 1000 dollars more and the only thing you are really getting is different plastic and fuel injection

because even though stock suspension has been upgraded it still will not be up to perk with the other mx'rs an you could get after market suspension for that 1000 almost AND save like what.. 55 lbs?

but i guess it's what ever your into on that subject.. some people are just FI fans :P

yea but the yfz450r probably doesnt vibrate as much as the old one, better throttle, plus efi's smooth responsive power, and probably less push/bumpsteer feel with the new front end and frame

its little things like those that i think are going to make the new yfz alot better then the old one

Along with the plastic and EFI you also get a fully aluminum frame which will eliminate the need to gusset like on the steel frame models. The actual retail price difference is more like $800, andyou couldn't even get decent standard travel +2 a-arms and a quality axle (not a G-Force), so for the average amature racer I believe the YFZ450R is the way to go. Most C and many B class riders run very close to stock suspension setups, width normally being the issue therefore most people getting right into racing have recently bought LTRs, now the only advantage it has is its factory tire size, which most people replace anyway.
