but i heard that yfz was faster stock and i do mostly trail riding. My friend that had the 450r put a hmf slip on, k&n, and stage 2 cam in it and the yz250 left it

your talking dirt bike vs quad you cant really compare. I dont like the YFZ450 i just didnt feel right on it. 450r on the other hand tis nice but I too am biased towards Honda because everyone knows they have the power of dreams backing them so if you picture yourself beating a yamaha it will lol

i haven't rode a yfz yet but when i sat on 1 i kinda felt uncomfortable. I am just waiting to see what honda is gonna do for the 09 450r

450r hands down over yfz. I'm not a huge yamaha fan. There just right out uncomfertable unless you mod the chit out of them.

Get a quad!
Honda= Reliability(if taken care of i.e oil,filter,etc)
Theyre pretty ready to go stock...if your just starting it should be fine with a set of new bars and tires. And thats it =]

I love honda and quads but if you are going to be riding primarily with your buddy...get the bike. I don't know if you ride tracks or what areas exactly but if you're both on bikes you'll be able to go to the same places together without any problems.

If you do choose the quad route, I'll add another vote to the 450r. I've rode both and I'll agree FoxHondaRider, I couldn't get comfortable on the yfz either.

i like bikes now, and i still like quads, if you go with 4 wheels, i would get a honda probably, the yfz isnt really any different speed wise compared to the honda, not enough to make a difference. see whats more comfy. Also, go with the 450 if you get a bike, they are rediculous. and will run all over about everything.

450R is the ticket.

The bikes are powerful, I have a hard time racing a 450F and i am a bigger guy, I race MX in the B class on bikes and the 450F just woops me up after a 30 minute moto. If you are considering a 450F, be ready to hold on. The 250F is twice as much fun to ride and will haev enough power for you, believe me. My 250F pulls me over a 100 ft step up double and I am 220 Pounds.

I wouldn't get a yamaha. I have a yamaha bike now and a 450r. The 450r is awesome. I hardly even ride the yamaha bike. Probably because it's only a 125 but I got it for free so it doesnt matter. Yamaha=fast while they last.
