05' different front sprocket ?

did honda change the way the front sprocket mounts on 05's EX ? I have a 02' EX and know someone with a 05' EX 14t sprocket

I know there is a difference in the spline count, but I'm not sure which year it started, I would guess '05 since that seems to be the big change. My brother has an '01, I have an '07, he tried to put my stock 14 tooth on his and found out that the spline count is different
