I have been thinking very hard about taking the motor out of a KX500 I have and stuffing it into an 06 450 roller. Has anyone else tried this and what kind of results did you get? My 08 450ER is fast but I got the 500 running awesome now and the gears started turning in my head to do a bada** quad. Also does anyone make a engine mounting kit? Will the frame hold that kind of power even with reinforcing it? The 500 makes over 65hp. :eek2:
If you can weld you can do anything. I have a friend that has a CR500 motor in a TRX250R chassis. It rips!! It vibrates a lot because that motor doesn't have a counter balancer. the vibration is really bad sitting still at idle, but when you are riding it it's not too bad.

Make sure you keep the welder that you use to build it handy for when the frame starts cracking.

The vibration is bad and I should have bought stock in locktite. I can weld no problem, but wanted some opinions before I start building. I also have two other CR500 motors one in a bike and one not, but the kx eats the cr alive. The kx isn't stock and I have the power curve sheets for the hp she delivers. The one cr motor I have has a lowboy pipe so it would fit easier in the 450 frame. But the other cr motor is air cooled. Would an aftermarket frame hold better? I have always wanted to build my own frame so maybe this is my chance. Well time to get to work on it, wish me luck. Thanks guys.
Good luck and make sure you take a lot of pictures.
