i didnt think that they were covers, i thought it was just like the black tank, with red plastic.

No the red, white and black tanks are actually plastic covers that go over the plastic tank on the 08's but the tanks are a little smaller on a 08 to accomodate the cover but you are able to finesse the cover on to the 04-07 tanks with a few minor mods.

you mean you can take a 08 tank civer and with minor mods you can make it fit on the other years?

Yes there is a thread on the ORG about people doing it but no one has detailed pics of doing it just pics of after it's done on older tanks.

I put one of the new covers on my 06. All i did was trim the lower tabs off the gas tank cover and it fit ok. Not quite a perfect fit, some duel sided 3M tap might help too but i have gotten that yet. Its pretty easy to see where you have to trim once u set the cover on

A friend of mine put one on his 06. It was a simple install but after you finish triming in order to get it on it's not very secure. He has rode it several times and hasnt had any issues but it made me decide not to do it. It also makes your tank quite a bit wider. The plus side is it does take care of the issue of graphics sticking and actually staying on. Sorry no pictures.
