Greetings from a new guy to this list. Where should I start - from the beginning is always the best.

My son has ridden his yamaha moto 4 for a couple of years now (he is 8). He has been saying that he would like to try racing his quad for the past few months. Well, when he ripped the rear axle gears this summer we decided to go the path of the trx90 and work towards outfitting him with something he could race with. So we have a 1994 model that was in very good shape as our base. We have clipped the wired and added a Big Gun exhaust.

After reading so many of the posts here, the first that I have to agree with is that he has fun with it. I have seen too many over the top parents in t-ball, cub scouts (pinewood derbies must have gotten his raciing blood boiling) getting too worked up and the kids aren't having any fun when they should be.

With all the items that will need to be modded, do I feel a bit overwhelmed? A little bit.

Just wondering if some of you would be willing to help me out with some of the simpler items at this point. I am still working on my decision for which way to widen the front. But whichever way I go, it still has to sit on the tires and wheels.

Do you have any suggestions for some of the best tire size combinations for the front and rear? I am torn between 9 or 10 inch wheels for the rear.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Pretty well detailed and outfitted TRX 90, if you haven't already looked at it.

Thanks Brad. Yes I have been watching the white knight build - gorgeous.

Mike: Where did you get the support for the A arms? I am looking to narrow my list and I do like that design.

I have a tire/wheel question. We plan to us the snow hog 16x6.5x8 as the tire. Will an 8x8 wheel work or should we go with an 8x7?

Go with the smaller wheel........but I would use the 18" tires. There only 17.25
