I have gotten the rear axle out of my 400ex and got the hub with the disk brake off and now there is one more little hub or piece that has to come off before the housing will come off. So my question is how does this piece come off?

there is a snap ring that holds the brake caliper bracket on. Take it off and then you will beable to take it out.

You have to back that nut off so far before you expose the snap ring they are talking about.

yeah ill second that. the ring is underneath. once you back off that nut you can get the snap ring off and then pull the nut off all the way. i had the same problem and got pissed but thats how it worked out.

I didn't do any welding on them thats actually the 2nd piece thats under the rear disk brake hub, its actually one piece pressed onto another so when i cut the first layer off thats what was under it.
