You can't...

The silencer is regular steel, and regular steel rust's.

But there are some fixes.

1) POR15 (Paint Over Rust) It comes in black and if your silencer is rusting, you paint the whole silencer with this stuff over the rust and it will stop it from continuing. Should hold up for a couple years under offroad abuse.

2) Get it powdercoated. But this is way expensive just to keep a stocker from rusting..

You can always try to get a stock 450r Stainless Steel silencer. They bolt up fairly easily with some modification, and will have some gain in preformance without rusting. Cheap too.

rust is like cancer once it starts there's really no way to stop it.

actually, thats what the por15 is designed for.

It works better when you paint it over the rust. We use it on all our truck frames. It stops it immediately.

That's impossible. The header is stainless steel.

It's probably caked on mud and dirt, not rust

what i done for the last 5 years is every once in a while i use a brillo pad to clean the head pipes up and they still look good today.

Not that I know of.

My dad has a machine shop and deals with all kinds of materials, and all the stainless he's had doesn't rust.

Plus, I have NEVER seen a rusty stock 400ex header.
