IMO, if you are torn between the two, get a raptor 250. its small and light like a blaster, great suspension and runs like a 300ex. Ive had a 300ex and many blasters and now have a raptor 250, its the perfect compromise between the blaster and 300

i would go with the 300 i think they are pretty equivalent excent the 300 might be more reliable...i have ridden a blaster and dont really like em but have had my 300 for a while and runs great...

I'd go for a 300EX, if i had to choose between the two.

Although the Raptor 250 looks very nice...

I would go with the 300ex i used to own a blaster when i was younger and loved it. When i recently came time to buy my gf a atv we got her a 300ex. Which i wasnt happy about at the time, but after doing some mods to it and riding it myself i would now choose the 300ex over the blaster. It does land much better when jumping and responds very well to mods.

get a 300. i have raced a blaster for 2 years. and ended up on the 300 for the end of this season. there is no comparison between the bikes anymore when it comes to mods.

If i was going to get a blaster id get an 03 or up with the hydraulic brakes. The older drum brakes suck and its alot of work converting it over. However if your looking for smooth power and reverse you better get the 300, cause the blaster doesn't have great bottom end torque. They are both great quads no matter what.. What kind of riding do you do??

If a Raptor 250 is too expensive, what is your budget?

Budget:
Height:
Weight:
Riding Style:

Plan on modifying, installing aftermarket parts, or sticking with near stock?

BLASTER. end of story, i've owned 2 300ex's and 2 blasters, and at the same time had a 2004 blaster and 2003 300ex so we compared them in everything, blaster comes out on top every time.

with both of them being a smaller quad the blaster has a better power to weight ratio. you'll find a nicer, more modded blaster in your budget than you will a 300. mod for mod the honda cant stand against the 2-smoker.

hillclimbs - blaster, better weight distribution, quick revving engine

mud - i'll give it to the 300ex just cause it wont spin the tires as much and dig holes

trails - PERSONALLY i much prefer the blaster, its a lot quicker and peppier

jumping - also goes to the blaster, light, quick, extremely easy to get in the air.

im assuming your a beginner, so if nothing else the blaster will make you a better rider in the end than the 300 will.

also, the first blaster i owned was the older style (97) and there really is no difference, dont worry about the brakes, they work.

i ain't a beginer but am in need of a sportyer quad real bad
ya i always find blasters for like $600-$1000 and i haven't found a 300ex for not even $1500

yea do it, pick up a cheap blaster, its gonna be fun i guarantee it. build it up as you get the money, have a good time. lol dont mess with 4 strokes under 400cc

why not under 400cc's???

Dr89

haha just generally speaking the 4 stroke quads under 400cc are underpowered and less fun than they're 2 stroke counterparts

i.e. the blaster vs the 300ex

Yes the 2 strokes are all fine and dandy until you blow them up and are out moeny for rebuilding them and/or don't have anthing to ride until its fixed.
Honda has always been keen on its reliabilty factors. IF your looking for something older go with the 250x same as the 300 but older and cheaper! Mods will be relitively the same. Goodluck!

isaac, have you ever replaced a blaster topend? because its literally a 15min job every two years at most...unless someone doesn't know how to ride i guess.

oh and its $80....even if you have to rebuild a 4 stroke motor every 6 years its going to cost more than 2 or 3 blaster top ends. hell just a topend gasket kit for a 300ex costs about half of the entire blaster top end, piston and all.
