How fast???

So what has out run your 500/525? I went to Durhamtown, and played on their dragstrip. I ran a build 450ltr, a mod'd 450R, KFX 450R, KFX700, KTM450, and no one got past me. Mine is a 03 with simple mods. Just wondering what it takes to out run the Pred 500's? Which is faster the 500's or 525's? I'm just curious how we stand to all the others out there.

okay it all depends on the rider, and it must be pretty built to beat a ktm450 and built ltr450! and 500's Vs. 525's i could give you a head start and still beat you

I love it... Everyone under estimates the preds, it dont bother me none when guys on other quads assume its slow because its a polaris. My pred doesnt have much done but in 300' in the sand it will stay with piped 450r's, and beat 700r's kfx 450s stock LTR's, LTR's with the cherry bomb are about a length ahead at the end. really cant beat a yfz. I have both with about the same mods and the yfz wins by about 3 to 4 quad lengths usually. I have lots of pics to show this if you dont believe.

But there are lots of things that can beat the pred, the engines are awesome its just too heavy, thats why i probably wont have my pred much longer, gonna hafta get another yfz.

I'm just curious as to why so many state the Pred500's are dogs??? My buddy has a 400z, built to the max almost, and we are close. I mean it is a all out racing motor, 450cc, ported head, cam, aftermarket carb., exhaust, ign box, etc... I'm just curious, because everything I've raced, has not beat'n me, or walked away from me. Alot I've raced are real close to me, or even.

Yea, predators arent that bad. I kno XSR03 pretty well and it is fast. I gota 440ex with alot of mods to list. I just got it runin worth a flip so i will be racing him soon. But hes right that thing will move. Sorry to say but i havent seen anything stock comes close to him.

Or in that fact: I havent seen anything that has been pretty well modified take him either. I have seen it race a few quads and they never walk away from it...To have just as few mods as hes got that things a beast.........

like i said its all about the rider!!! ;) and i have the outlaw 525irs with the Ct pipe, K&N, and cam and thats why i said i could give you a head start, but im sure the outlaw 525 could still pull no problum, no offense because im a polaris guy all the way :p

i guess i will jump in here.i am the one with the built z and yes i know how to ride.gotten plenty of holeshots to prove i can ride in a drag race.anyway i was there with him at durhamtown and i will say this.the ktm was a 525 and it didn't turn on till the end of every race it was in.now i am not dogging it.it's a bad ride.as far as the kfx700's they were getting beat by everything.not very impressed with those.the only thing there that was giving a good run was the trx 450r and the kfx 450.anytime any of you want to try out the pred just let us know and we can meet up at durham town.oh yeah i do understand that the rider makes the race but come on now you let that pred leave on the 525 outlaw in a 300ft drag and your not going to get back around the 500.i am sure you will be coming but you need more that that to catch him.

My brother in law raced a predator with his kfx 450 and it was whoever got the jump won, now when i race the kfx 450 no matter what he does roll start, start from a stop, or if i give him a head start i still get him by at least 5-8 lengths, so i dont think a pred can beat a outlaw 450 or 525s idk about the 525irs with giving the head start thing because my friends got one with fmf pipe,mega bomb, k and n, and a jet kit and i beat him bad, like really bad, so does the kfx 450, even when other people are on it. But the preds still a really good quad, so is the irs for certain types of riding. Just had to add my $0.02 :blah:.

Haha he lost a lot of weight since then and thats not his 525 its my friends and his friends, he has an outlaw 500 and a brand new ltr 450. But hes actually a really good rider. And that video is like almost a year old, when i first got my quad and first started riding.

Someone said that ktm 525 was beaten and it was a bad ride.
Well, Pred's or any other (stock or light modded) quads can't beat that 525 engine. It has lots of power and torque in an extremely light chassis and weight makes a difference. The problem is the 525 carb has to be properly tuned and a lot of people are riding them very lean...

Well yalll can talk all yall want to, but i have seen the quad in action and i know how that thing will go. Plus all its got is 3 or 4 mods. I mean if something like that cant be beat by a 525, than why even buy one....IMO...But i got a 440 built to the max so ill let you know the outcome. I wont walk away from him by anymeans, but we should be close.....

I guess you are talking to me.It is in Washington GA.I don't know all his mods but i can see the exhaust and air intake/filter set-up.I never said you would get beat on the top end.I believe the 525 in a Polaris or ktm will walk on him once they get up in 4th or 5th gear but you ain't going to kill him out the gate and just pull like mad the whole way.going back to my other post i said aright at the end of the 300 ft drag the 525 starts coming on and i also said if you let him leave first(your words not mine)you will not catch him in a 300ft drag.here is a link to the place we ride.

Wow! So much bias. Everything I raced was on loose dirt(dust), and maybe on the road it'll be different. I know I can leave hard with the preddy, and under full throttle hold it out in first and second toting the wheels about 2ft high. I dragrace cars, and I'm sure that helps, and I've raced street bikes, and a stupid fast Banshee. Maybe it was all experience, maybe not. I never saw even a front wheel to anything I raced. That was just out of the side of my site, I never looked back to see how far I was in front. I did look on one, the KFX 450R, and his front tire was a few feet behind my rear. I love my Predator, and can't wait to get into the motor one day!!!!:blah:

Okay, now, this is unbiased, I actually like the pred's engine.

But, there is absolutely no comparison for a pred and a yfz. Ive ridden both. The pred had a filter and full HMF exhaust, and the yfz had the same.

I was getting all excited to ride the pred, hearing how fast they are and such.

And I was dissapointed. Not what I expected at ALL for a 500cc machine. Riding both side by side, I think the pred is only some faster then my piped ex. But much torqier, felt like it would hold power better on hills then the ex.

The yfz just feels like a rocket.

Now, im not saying the pred isnt quick, just not what I expected for a 500. It's probably the weight holding it back.

Well, I can assure you that a stk predator will smoke a bolt-on ex, anyday of the week. I'm not sure why some say they are slow, and others fast. :confused: I just know what I've raced, and the outcome of all the races. :D

Before i upgraded to a yfz inexchange for my 400ex that had a lot of mods to it, it was a 416 port and polish, full exhaust... it was not even close to my pred. with just bolt ons but the yfz beats the pred even worse then the pred beat the 400ex

But the weight is defianetly what holds the pred back

And if you think the power was sad for a 500...i would hate to see what you would say about a 700 raptor because i know my pred will beat my roommates 700 with the big three mods.

I have an '07 525 irs and I ride with guys that have a '07 525 irs, '08 525s, '08 Kawi 450, '08 525 irs, '04 ltz400, '07 ltz400 and an '04 Pred. My 525 irs, '08 525s, the ltz's and the Predator have airbox and pipes, the Kawi and other 525 irs are stock. We ride primarily in the sand at St. Anthony. These are the results 99% of the time when we drag race up choke:

1st: '08 525s
2nd: '07 525irs(he gets me by a quad)
3rd: tie between '07 and '08 525irs(I usually get them by a quad)
4th: Pred the '07 ltz and the Kawi are close(they are behind me by maybe 5 or 6 lengths depending on the start)
A close 5th would be the other ltz(he is also the youngest with the least experience)

They're all great quads, I'm alittle disapointed in the 450 Kawi, but that 525 motor just pulls too hard for the other quads to stand a chance.

FYI... the 03 preddys are faster then it later models believe it or not. Its believed to be that polaris wanted the wow facter the launch year and then toned the motor back after that. I had an 03, which started a fad with my friends.. next couple years we rode with bout 6 preddys, and mine just walked on all of them except one... anoter 03.

yup.....a 400ex is not even close and I cant even believe its being compared. As far as the yfz goes they should beat the pred in a drag but I never lost by much, the weird part about the yfz is it just feels faster because its so compact and the FCR has a much stronger feel to it. The ones Ive raced were always ridden by much smaller guys and would edge me out, we'd switch bikes and I felt like I was crushing him but he's come roaring by on mine. Ill take a little extra weight to stay off a yfz that bike made me feel like I was 100 years old when I got off......eyerything hurt

I'm glad some light is coming to this post. Well this past Sat., I managed to race a mod'd yfz450, and 450R. I got poor starts this time, but we stayed the same the hole run. I could'nt pull them, and they could'nt pull me! Over all I am still happy with my pred., it's just alittle hard finding parts sometimes......
