Are you jetted on the lean side? That can cause a motor to run more hot.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust?

Most have a very wide bend coming from the motor to flow better. THey arent tucked up against the motor like a stock pipe. My Dasa burned thru a brand new pair of riding pants in like 5 mins. I tuck them in my boots now.

all four stroke pipes get hot. i got burns on my boot from my header.. if i was you i would get my jetting checked just to be sure your not running too lean.

I can understand burning a hole in your jeans on the head pipe but how is it burning your grab bar? Is the grab bar stock?

What are your mods, elevation and current jetting?

The grab bar looks like it just has carbon build up. Do you set your jeans on the pipe?

nope my jeans dont go no where near the pipe in the back. But, my pants touch the header?

Anything that touches the header will get burnt. There isn't anyway around it except for heat wrap. I might get heat wrap so I can ride with shorts.

but why is my grab bar getting burnt?

I think it is just carbon shooting out of your exhaust because if I am not mistaken your grab bar is right behind the exhaust. How close is your exhaust to the grab bar?

Gray33

close...

its probably just carbon build up then. Unless your bike runs insanely hot then you should be fine. Does the black wipe off? Does it look like burnt metal? Try taking a torch to it and see if you come up with the same color and see how easily it burns.

it probably is just carbon build up couse when i still had my stock pipe my endcap was turned upside down and my grab bar was always black on that side. if your bikes got the stock jetting you should probably try to rejet it

Yup, the grab bar is carbon from the exhaust. That's going to happen.
I can't really tell from the picture, but it looks like your head pipe might be damaged. What is on it?

From what I can see in the pic your grab bar is right where the exhaust exits the pipe which is still very hot when it comes out. Also when I bought my yfz I got it in winter and I started my pants on fire. Its happened more than once. I raised one of my jets I cant remember which one it was if it was the pilot or main. The dealer did it anyhow it helped keep it from running so hot and helped with idling. I'm not sure if you can see it but this is how hot my pipe got after 1 min. of idle.
