Question:

Can I push start my quad without the battery? I know it sounds silly, but my battery is at one place and my quad is in storage. I don't plan on trying by I'm kind of curious if it would.

Thanks
Doug

It works on a manual shift car with a dead battery....why wouldnt it work on a quad. Maybe there is an obvious difference that I should know...but hey I am a girl :)

I don't see why it won't work. You could also just use some jumper cables and start it off your car:p

i have a problem with my neg cable coming loose on my battery. when it loses connection i just lose my headlights. it doesnt shut the quad off, so yes it will run with no battery.

Lil is right.....The battery only get it started...It has nothing to do with it once it is started, or maybe it runs the lights too. You can start a car, and while it is running, take the battery out of it. That is a test to see if your altenator is bad I believe::huh Dont quote me on any of this...I am NO mechanic

Actaully, it won't run....It needs the battery in there to complete the entire circuit.

It works. At least it did on my friends warrior. Never tried with my 400ex.

all a battery is for is to start the thing if pushstarting is iimpossible, (like an auto car), and to run lights, radio, etc without runnin outa gas

yes it would work when the engine starts moving the stator makes energy wich gives it a spark, just like 2 strokes when u kick it it turns over the engine and the generator makes the engergy for the spark

.... Well the real answer is.... "YES" If you hook the + and - terminals together to complete the circuit. "No" if you dont. I have done it on other quads, and my TRX300 4x4 (it has kick start). My dad did it with a dirt bike, and a motor cycle.

the true anwser is yes it will run with no battery. i just did a little test, which involved taking one of the cables off of my battery. i started it, unhooked the negative wire and it didnt quit. there is your anwser, it will run.

it will work without a battery ive did it before on my 300ex. and one thing you DONT want to do is hook the positive and negative ternimals together with the engine running because you will burn out the charging coils in your stator.

Sorry, I didnt mean hook the terminals together. I was meant to say, if they are hooked up though a battery so long as the circuit is complete. You guys mean it will start without anything hooked up battery wise?

it works on the warrior, i tried that a couple months ago. his battery went dead and we pushed him, and he jumped up and shifted and it started.
