Uni Filter Air Box Vents installing question

i think i know how to install these but i want to make sure im right but dont u but out the space for them on the side or top of the airbox and unsert these in there and glue them to make sure they are in there good is that right?

well i read that someone put glue on them to make sure they stay

i always put a bead of silicone around them to make sure theres no leaks

I am thinking of installing some of these vents but I am concerned about water. Is the top or side a better option to avoid too much water in the air box? Or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill?
