if your intent is just to kill it, a 30/30 will work, most use a 223 or 22-250 so there isnt pelt damage

a dying rabbit call and a mouse squeeker work well on most fox or yotes

I usually just use whatever weapon I have in my hand at the time. I cant count how many times coyotes have wrecked hunts for me by sneaking up on whatever it is I'm trying to call in. It happens a lot to me durning spring turkey season. I once had a coyote walk up on my turkeys and almost walked in to me while it was sneaking up. He got 10ga birdshot from about 6-10 feet away.

Usually when we ask for permission to hunt on land around here from farmers, it's on one condition, shoot any coyotes you see! Most of them have mange anyways. Luckily the last few years they seem to have cleaned up a bit.

check your regulations, many states allow rifle for things but not for deer etc.

a 30/30 at usual distances will tear a big hole in a yote.

Around here the yotes have been getting deer left and right so we hunt to kill. We dont use a 30-30, the feilds are just too big. Most of the time we use a .270. A few times we have shot them with a 300 but thats just over kill

well we dont really "hunt" coyotes, we just search em down. usally we'll watch em to see where the den is then get tractors( one drivin, one ridin) and when they see the tractor they'll stop and stare usally. then just peg em off with a 243. we kill coyotes cause they kill the cows!

Like Pappy said a good electronic predator call, squealing rabbit works good for both yotes and foxes. Around here the foxes come in pretty quick when you hit the call. So we try to move a lot, setup hit the call give it 15-20 minutes then move. Depending on hunting pressure head to toe camo and try to setup with them coming in upwind. A .223 will give you a lot more range than a 30/30 but a .22 LR will work if you can hit them.:p Some of the old timers around here say nothing works better than a live chicken hung upside down in a tree. They make a hell of a racket but not sure on the legality or ethics of that.:p

nick, give me a call so i can chat about your frame

also, i dunno if i ever told you about that time i was in a goose blind in carroll county and i busted a fox out of it. i fired and moose went out to get the "goose" and when he hit the fox he turned into a fuzzball...lmao he circled it growling and then came back. the same thing happened about 30 minutes later when i sent fox #2 down....and ever since teh second fox moose hasnt retrieved jack **** for me:p
