repacking exhaust?

how do you know when to repack your exhaust? like what are the sympoms if any? or is it just a once every couple years or what?

Repacking typically needs to happen every 25 to 45 hrs. There are a lot of things that contribute to this...LOTS & LOTS. So... There are times when you might need to repack every 60 hrs. But then there might be times when you need to repack every 20 hrs. If you trail ride lots (keeping it in the low RPM's) than your packing will last longer. Higher RPM's means shorter packing life span.

In general, when the packing goes, you loose some "back pressure". This means you have more get-up-&-go. But there is another way to tell. You know those rivet holes in the side of the canister that hold on the end cap? When you see the rivet holes beginning to stretch-out, you're OVERDUE.

What pipe do you have? There are differences. What machine is it on? A little more info will help.
