ANYONE RUNNING THIS TIRE COMBO FOR WOODS RIDING/ RACING? GREAT/ GOOD/ BAD? WHY? HOW ABOUT A 23'F/ 20"R COMBO?

I run 23/22 with my XC setup. It works great in muddy, slick, wet conditions. But it makes it harder to rip thru the woods because the tires want to roll in the corners. Ground clearance is sweet..

23 front pure sport bandit acr 6 ply

22 rear maxxis sure trax 2 ply

awesome tires. great grond clearance.

where i ride there is a lot of rocks and this really helps. not good for the mx track though, i will be going to a 21/20 set up for that

I can't see running the 23-22 setup. I ran 22-20 this year and felt that the 22in Holeshot XC fronts rolled way too much in the corners. I trying the Kenda 21 inch fronts this year.

My friends raptor has thia setup and I hate it. The heavy tire suck up power, won't tire well beause of being tall, more side lugs, more round tire, and THe bigger tire suck for jumping. It will make you quad heavy in the air and Kinda trown you around more. If you ride in the woods and need a little more clearance for rocks and stuff I wood get them, If you do more than that I would either get a diffrent tire or but two sets of tire.

For racing XC in the GNCC and the local races around here..ground clearance is a big issue. For everyday groomed trail riding,,21/20 would be a better setup..when the spring gets here and the trails aren't so bad..I'll be goin with a 22/20 setup probably..:D I can say that with the 23/22 setup I've yet to get stuck were I see several riders off their quads tryin to get unstuck.

Grromed Trail Riding????
Where'd you get that Rico?
Here in Oklahoma we don't really have to worry about rocks and stuff like that, and our tracks only get rutted after the Bikes race. Tall tires are great if the terrain justifies them but I can't say that the tracks we race really need them.

Depends on where you ride. I love my combo, because of the ground clearance. 22 maxxis all trac, and 23 maxxis raxors six ply. Pretty heavy tires, and yes they do rob some power, but what go is power if your stuck on a log or in a rut going up a hill.

Going to be good in the snow too!!!!

Well in the pittsfield state forest probelly has some of the worst trails you are going to find. I know alot poeple that won't bring there quads up here because of it. Rocks are every where. The trails are really hard on the tires around here.

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE REPLIES! DOES ANYONE RUN DIFFERENT GEARING WITH THE TALLER TIRES? ACCORDING TO THE GEARING CALCULATORS.........THE 22" REARS WITH 14/39 GEARING WILL VERY CLOSELY RESEMBLE STOCK GEARING. (F.Y.I.)

I run 14/38 on my atv. Even with the 14, you will notice the difference between the 20" tires versus the 22" tires in that the 22's definitely rob some power.

You asked if anyone ran 23" front with 20" rears... I have. This greatly adds rear traction, but also looses a lot of front steering.

I personnally like the feel of a smaller tire up front, but for the type of riding around me, I would not recommend going smaller than 22" front tires.

BTW... Thanks for the info about how a 14/39 on a 22" rear tire comes close to the same ratio as a 15/38 with 2O" rear tires.:)

i run 14/38 with the 22's out back and 23 ip front.

will go to 15/38 when i run 21/20

and 15/38 with the 23/22 for fast trails.

right now i'm going with 22/22 (both stockers) and i do mostly woods riding and a little play MX. i'm changing to 22-inch Razr Rears and possibly a 23-inch front tire, probably a holeshot XCT or something like that. anybody ever try this setup? under normal circumstances i would go to a 20 inch rear but since i have shaft drive i dont wanna lose top end. i'm gonna try looking for a light 23-inch front tire so the heavy rears will help with jumping and keeping the front up. any suggestions for me?

if you trail ride on trails you need them .the berkshires ,the appalachins. The rocks are god awful rough, the increased ground clearance and traction are a must .It just depends on what kind of riding you do.for me 23 inch in front and 22 in back (razrII) there awesome for trails.I am sure there lots of rough and tumble trails to test your bike on, but for me we do a lot of riding at october mountain -pittfield state forest -savoy in mass and let tell you after 80 to 120 miles in one day over those rocks you will be glad you got the bigger tires (six ply tires almost indestrucible) -ALMOST- !!!

how about a 23/20" set up? Im thinking about this... but Im worried about looks and how well it will perform

I find myself riding the 23" fronts and 20" rears from time to time... Like this past weekends race. I find that you get more front end push with this setup, but the 23" tires help go over obstacles due to the larger diameter, and the 20" tires have more traction since the front end is raised a little more. I seem to have a lot of fun with this setup... Especially when I go from 22" rear tires to 20" tires!:D

To answer your question, No... it will not hurt the "looks", and you may find that the 23/20 will work best for you. I know Ron Derno (Derno24) runs 23/20 and he likes the setup.

Good luck!:)

I run the 21x8"fasttrekers in front.Flat profile and wide=more traction and less side roll.I have the 22" razorII in the rear They have ribs and dont tend to roll much either.I really like this set up.A friend has 23/22" holeshots and he switched to bandits up front22x7" and he like the way mine feels better than his.And we are the exact same other than tires.well we were when i get tru with my rebuild i'll have his milk!
