One of my friends has an 88-89 R that needs front hubs. He can get 400EX hubs for cheap, will they fit??

Yes 400EX hubs will fit 88-89 250R spindles.
If you want to try and see, get a friend w/ an EX to take off his/her hubs. and try em.

I think he will need the 400ex rotors also. It seems like I remember that the R rotors use 4 bolts to hold them to the hub while the ex uses only 3 bolts.

I think the 88-89 had 3 bolt. I can confirm this a little later.

The 88-89 is a 3 bolt, I am pretty sure. The 86-87 uses 4. I am thinking it will work now.

The 88-89 is a 3 bolt, I am pretty sure. The 86-87 uses 4. I am thinking it will work now. exactly
