I have a 400ex that was recently overhauled and bored to a 416 but it seems to me that it has very little low end. in a drag it barely edged out a 426 but the 426 has much more low end. im thinking about upgrading to a 426. would a different pipe help me out or a cam or something? opinions?

Well what kind of mods do you have? When I had a 416 it had plenty of low end torque. Its all in the setup.

The 1mm in overbore and 10cc isn't going to make that big of a difference. If you want more low-end, gear it down or install a high compression piston if you don't mind running race gas.

weisco piston, dg full system, removed air box lid. it just seems like it has the same amount of power as one of my friends stock 400s but it will out run it. im not sure about the dg pipe. from what i've read on here they are junk.

Are you still running the stock cam?

Install a 450R carb, great mod for the $$.

You can pick up the 04-05 450R carb from servicehonda.com for around $160. It's an excellent upgrade.

Id have to say a 426 of course lol... plenty of nuts and when using 14 tooth sprocket it accelerates wicked.

I would have to say 426 as well, however if it has a recent bore, just work with what you have. Yes, a pipe, cam, and carb would work wonders for you.

i have riden a 426 and i loved the power it had. i dont really feel like putting more money into mine. it already has quite a bit n it. i would really like to just sell it and buy a 426.

The difference in a built 426 and a built 416 is not enough to warrant selling your fourwheeler to get another one. If you are going to sell your wheeler for another, at least upgrade to a 450.

well i have thought about that but the only concern i would have is hurting myself. thats what my parents are worried about too.

You can get hurt riding a breeze. Just use your head when you ride and you can be safe on anything.
