i kno i searched for this but i couldnt find any good info on here so i made my own thread...
i got some free yfz450 shocks and to make them fit i know you have to grind them down a lil bit but my uncle doesnt think thats a good idea....
can anybody with these get me a pic of how much to grind off of them to make them work?
and any other tips with these...
thanks

My geuss is you would have to grind down the shock eye just like youd have to on the 450rs shocks

yes you have to grind the shock eyes down.thats really all you can do unless you make new shock mounts

I just measured the stock mounts then grinded them on down. I dont have any close up pics though.

i think the yfz shocks are like an inch shorter than stock 400s
and bcg have you had any problems or anything with them with the grinding making the eyes weaker?

there is hundreds of people on here who have ground down the eyes to make them fit...I wouldnt be worried about it..in fact im gunna be grinding down a set real soon

those are alot cheeper to get to. What part of the eye do u have to gring down? I dont mind lowering the quad down, but cant u adjaust the preload all that way down to make up for the inch?

I ground down a little bit of my R shocks because the gusset for the shock mounts would dig in it just dug it away I didnt even notice no big deal. At 1st i was hesitant because i didnt want to weaken the shocks to the point where they would break and I just looked at my brothers 400ex stock front shocks and laughed. The shock eyes on the stock 400ex shocks are just welded little pieces and the R shocks its like part of the body and super thick. 450r shocks are a great investment.
