What year is my 250

Hey guys I just bought a 250 quadracer and it needs alot of work. It doesn't run yet but it won't take much. Anyway how can I find out the year of my 250? Thanks

look at the vin # on the frame. the 10th digit should be a letter. h=87, j,k,l,m,n are corrasponding yrs. the 85-86 are very different so they're easy to tell the differences.
ie: non PV motor, straight seat, round housing style bearing carrier, and they're very light.
