I have 4 springs- one large, 3 small from Max RPM for the tranny.
Where do these go? Do I remove the left-side cover where the kick-start is?
Oh yeah-
Where can I get a good service manual for an -08 Outlaw? lol

I got a copy of the left side internals. So, I should be good now.
Thanks for your help though!

How in the heck do I get the nut off the main clutch housing?!
I have tried all kinds of vice grips and pliers to hold the housing. I am very close to buggering the thing up.
Shop wants $30 to pull it off to install 4 springs.

Man, i hate having to spend $30 because of 1 nut! UGH!!!

Do you want to talk now.......

Use an impact gun.....and I use a screwdriver with a notch cut in the end for the little springs.

I'll try that then.
But how do you keep the main clutch housing from spinning while doing so?

(Don't devil me!) :D

On his 2-stroke e-ton when we raced it every six races.....that's if your set up right with not a lot of heat. The little one's once a year. If the rider or you can notice it it's to late it can cost you a moto.

Yeah, I saw the tool I need. Costs $40.
Since my son isn't racing I can't see replacing these spring sbut once.
Pay $30 now i guess.

Changed them this morning. The tool in which another shop (independant where I get my EX parts from) was talking about was a spanner wrench with two pegs in it to hold the clutch plate while removing the nut.
We (myself and a guy at the Polaris shop where i bought the quad) held it with an oil filter strap. Housing came off with the impact wrench, inner nut with the rubber strap(gotta get myself one of these things!).
Oddly the white large spring that we installed actually seemed to have less pressure than the shorter factory spring. ??????
The three smaller springs that went inside the clutch were definitely stronger and a heavier duty. They were buggers to get to snap in!
Shop charged me nothing. They chalked it up as a learning experience (never did this before) and were quite impressed with the sound from my MAX RPM pipe.

Oh well...done for now!

Thanks all!

I've done some mods to my sons Pred 90: FMF pipe, K&N, Heitrick CDI and jet kit. Should I get some stiffer springs? Is it going to have a noticable difference?
