The CRF450R cam chain has the same number of links as the 400ex cam chain except its about an 1/8'' wider, I have one on my 426ex and it went in with out any problems and will last longer than the 400ex stocker.

what happens to timing chains? do they become loose or snap? if the become loose what happens ?? is it like a catastrophic error that blows ur motor? or does it just go outta time and not run? if it snaps , its obvious to me that it would really hurt ur engine ..j/w

No one ever talks about the added mass of the CRF450R Cam chain . This robs HP. I've had the original stock chain on my 416, and its fine. I just think this mod is overkill. Just another point of view.

Just another point of view. I didn't feel this at all when I put mine on. If it does take away power, it's not even noticable so I wouldnt worry about that.

Better than having a stocker stretch and ruin a perfectly good motor. I felt no loss in power on mine with it installed.

The power loss if any is so minimal it's not even worth mentioning. The added reliability is by far worth it's weight in gold. heck the price difference alone is worth it.

Stretched timing chains on 400ex's are quite common. I've personally seen some jump time due to an over-stretched timing chain and I've also personally seen them snap. I've seen a stock 450R chain snap as well. Snapped chains dont happen as often, but they all stretch.
