Repacking yoshi exhaust?

How do I know when I should repack the Yoshi exhaust? I don't any past info on it so im not sure about when to.

when i called them they said u had to send it out im pretty sure. they need to take the ribbets out with a machine and then machine new ones in. im not sure though

does the silencer look as tho its brunt at any place on it ? even so if its as old as i think it is than yes repack it.
i heard of a new/different packing called supper wool , i see there is some on e bay but comes in rolls way bigger than one person could ever use . you may be able to get it at a ceramics shop.
i'm told it way better than any thing called fiber glass.

Im gonna check out the silencer and everything tommorow. Its black and all from carbon, but no burnt spots from what I can see now.

the really hard part is getting it all back inside the can ,i drilled the rivets out that hold the label on ,made it some what easer.
